I love this place so much that I almost don’t want to post this review (so I can keep it for myself!) Facilities, sites, park attendants, surrounding area, the lake, and just everything are top notch! This definitely has become a new frequent destination for us!

Only 2 "pull-thru" sites, and they're tight and not quite level, and hook-ups on the wrong side, if you're in a large RV, but everything else about this Core of Engineers campground is stellar. Fantastic views, hiking trails, boat put-ins if you're into that. We've stayed here several times now as an interim stop on a longer trip. We definitely want to come back and spend a week. Lots of unserviced sites, too, clean showers if you don't have your own, friendly campground hosts; what more could you want?

Overall a beautiful place to be in Nature, what with the expansive views and the Lake. The hosts are uniformly wonderful. If I have one complaint it's that there is virtually no shade in the Puerco Loop campground, while there are shade structures in the other, main camp loop. Be prepared to create your own shade.

Great campground with wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts! My kids and I stayed 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Each sight has a designated trash can which is collected daily, showers and flushing toilets were very close to our site which was convenient. We had reserved site 37 online but Cindy let us switch to site 39 which had more privacy and much better views of the lake! My kids loved the playground and gave my high energy 10 yr old something to do when we weren't down at the lake. One thing to note is there is not much shade, unless you get a site with a pagoda (which aren't very private) so bring a shade canopy or umbrella. All in all a very friendly, safe, clean and beautiful campground that my family will definitely come visit again!

Colorful mountains, lake and tranqulity. One of the best Army Corp campgrounds and the best campground in this area. Loops are spaced apart nicely. Campsites are staggered for privacy and scenery. Each Campsite has its own covered patio, fire pit, and a lined garbage can. Some sites have shade. Nice water spigots throughout each campground areas. Great starlink coverage. Camp hosts and park staff are very welcoming and helpful. Good rules that are enforced to keep this place pretty and peaceful. Bath houses need better care and cleaning. Lakeside hiking trail marker is across the road in Cham loop #s 18 & 19 near the lake. Ghost Ranch for hiking trails. Museum is closed on Mondays.

Reservations went smoothly, staff in front booth friendly, campsite/grounds clean. Explored a number of places that were within an hour’s drive—Ghost Ranch, Christ in the Desert Monastery, hiking.

We only got to stay one night, but definitely wish it had been more! The views were beautiful, the hosts were very nice, and the weather was great! We hope to be back in the future!
