This is a tent camper's dream lakeside campground! All the sites have a nice gravel area that's perfect for pitching a tent, the picnic tables are under a sturdy shelter that also has a pole for hanging things, the campground rules prohibiting alcohol and campfires mean that there aren't late parties like many other lakeside campgrounds, and best of all, there are great showers. Since it was in the 40's F the night I stayed, and the showers had no temperature control knob, I was afraid it would be a very cold and unpleasant experience. I've never been happier to be wrong - the water was nice and cozy warm but not too hot, and there was an overhead heat lamp that kept the chill off. By far one of the nicest, quietest, and most affordable campgrounds I've stayed in on public lands.

We stayed in the Buffalo Loop. The bathrooms were not well maintained. Shower floors were very dirty. The site was pretty nice. Very sturdy cement table with metal roof covering. The sites were gravel and far off from level.

Nice trails. Park was not full but the water level was rising. Two loose dogs.

Very nice well maintained campground. The lake was too high to enjoy but the camping was nice, beautiful views. I gave it a 4 because one if the two showers available on Buffalo Grove loop was broken.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Cochiti campground, we enjoyed view overlooking Rio Grande. Our site had nice covered structure over our picnic table patio area. Nice hot showers close by, and our water & electric site hook ups worked great. Convenient area for day trips to Sante fe, Los Alamos and Bandelier. We enjoyed Downtown Los Alamos/ Manhattan Project National Park and Bandelier National park in the same day. We recommend and will return again.
