What Guests Are Saying
Ponderosa Campsite is a charming hidden gem featuring cozy accommodations, full electric hookups, and family-friendly amenities like a swimming area and activities for children. The peaceful atmosphere is enhanced by friendly caretakers who strive to ensure guest satisfaction. However, the campsite faces issues with noise from nearby windmills, a lack of trash disposal, and some intrusive behavior from regular campers, which could detract from the overall experience.

This is a true hidden gem, with a beautiful layout of small shacks for single campers and slightly larger cabins for multiple campers, full electric hook up at both RV and tent sites, the caretaker will bring out an adaptor for tent sites to plug in phones etc., and there are multiple bathroom sites with hot showers and activities for children and families including a pavilion, park area, and swimming area with water slide. Seasonal residents and campers alike are generally quiet and happy, the grounds feel entirely peaceful with the option to camp by neighbors or be in a more secluded area. There's something for everybody here to find and call home for a night or two, or much longer. The season runs may 1-sept 30 and monthly and seasonal rates are very affordable and reasonable. The 90 year old owner Walt and right hand man Pat do a really nice job ensuring everyone is taken care of. I found a cozy shack rental and included a picture.

This has the potential to be a really great campground, however has a few flaws.
First, staff was friendly, however scattered. We were told upon arrival they just fired the lady that had managed the property.
1- if you seek peace and quiet, this is not it. It is next to a field of windmills, that’s all you will hear.
2- the regular campers stalk you. They would follow me anytime I drove in. One night slept in the back of the car instead of the tent because people were driving by our site and yelling at us. Keeping in mind, we were the only tent campers, so they had no reason to be there.
3- no trash. You have to take your trash out with you. For an overpriced $32/night for water access, ($35 water and elec) they should at the very least have a dumpster.
4- wood for sale, not hard wood for an overpriced $10. You can get it for $8 at the nearby gas stations, or $3-$5 at some roadside stands.
Overall, could be a great property, if it was done right.
Won’t return.

Great open campsite, lucky enough to see northern lights. Campground is showing its age and maintenance is looking to be behind in some areas of the facility. One draw back was some sires close to wind turbines and the noise is incessant and disruptive.

Charming place with camper sites and cabins for rent. Cabins are quite rustic, but clean and comfortable. Make sure your site isn't waterlogged after a rain. People are friendly and look our for each other. Camp store is quaint. Music Saturday nights.

Beautiful place to say had the owner not brought the rest of his family in. Contemplated buying one of the campers and went back the next year to buy it and the price had tripled because his daughters are there now. That was after I called and the woman said she would find out how much it would be for me to rent it for the month and never contact me back.
