Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Western New York

I thought we were going camping, but instead it felt like we were at a music festival that happened to have campsites.

There was constant loud music throughout the campground—by the pool, at campsites, and even well past 10:30 p.m. The only wildlife we consistently heard was someone's Bluetooth speaker.

If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing camping experience, this is not the place.

Many guests were loud and inconsiderate, with little regard for basic camping etiquette or for the families around them. Quiet hours are supposed to begin at 11:00 p.m. a little late for a kid centered camping experience.

Another major concern was the golf carts. They were frequently driven at high speeds, and several groups of teenagers were doing donuts and other dangerous maneuvers throughout the campground. It was only a matter of luck that no one, especially a child, was injured. The campground should do a much better job enforcing speed limits and safety rules.

The biggest disappointment was for our kids. They had been looking forward to this trip for weeks after hearing great things from their friends. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was so unpleasant and chaotic that we decided to cut our trip short.

We will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this campground to families looking for a safe and relaxing camping experience.

We travelled all the way from Canada with our 2 children, ages 4 and 6.
Upon arriving we found our campground on the hill, it made it difficult to level our travel trailer. Thankfully hubby is amazing at it, so was able to get it leveled.
On to the activities and general vibe of the campground. The entire place is uphill, which made it so that every single person except us was driving around golf carts. We are happy to walk through.
And this is where we had a problem, drinking and driving golf carts all day , with no regard to other campers. We didn't dare to let our children ride their bikes, because of the amount of people driving drunk on golf carts.
No peace at night time either. Golf carts driving around, honking horns, BLASTING MUSIC , doing karaoke at all hours of the night.
If you like drinking all day and driving a gold cart while at it, and are not looking for family friendly vibe, this place is for you. LOADS of unsupervised children everywhere too.

We loved the waterpark and pool though.

Checked in on 7/2, no problems, got right to our cabin, nice location and clean. When we were getting set up we noticed the refrigerator not cooling down and called for service. The guys checked it several times couldn't get it figured out so they actually brought us a new unit at about 9:30 pm. Brandon and Drew are awesome guys for taking the time to make sure we had a good unit that late in the evening and it will save us a lot of grief! Thanks guys.

We had an excellent stay. Our RV spot was in the perfect spot and in walking distant to the new soak zone, the lake, pool, and put put golf. We did end up renting a golf cart to haul our children to the back area for fishing, the jump pad and laser tag. I would 100% recommend everybody to stay here if you have kids. We are already looking at booking again for the end of this month!

I have mixed feelings about my stay at Jellystone. We booked a week or two before our stay so I knew once booking that we would be within our two week window of not receiving our deposit back. I did as much as research as could be done with their limited FAQ’s on the site itself but I liked the look of the place online and it has decent reviews. However I was generally disappointed with the stay. Not writing the review to complain, more or less to give others going a heads up on certain things. The premium cabin was clean and well maintained, however the entirety of our stay the wifi that is available for the unit was out (which wasn’t an issue as the point was to be outdoors and we brought DVDs to play for the kids when we did watch something). The issue is that no where on the official site does it state that most of their amenities (campfire canteen, gem mining, water park, general store, ice cream shop etc) are not open during certain dates of the summer. I realized once the deposit was in and we received a confirmation email that the water park would be closed throughout our stay. Which again because I booked within the 2 weeks if I cancelled then I would be out the deposit. The water park was the main attraction for us as our 4 year old was extremely excited when he saw it on the website. Despite seeing the email we decided it wouldn’t be that much of a bummer as the other amenities would still be available. Unfortunately when we went to do gem mining it was closed, the ice cream shop they offered I thought was open but was only open for maintenance one day not for ordering. Then again when we tried to go to the general store during their open hours that was also closed. We did catch staff around the park who were friendly and explained to us that until the middle of June most of the parks features wouldn’t be open. The staff were friendly and allowed us in the store once to look around but overall the park was eerily quiet and it was pretty heartbreaking having my 4 year old walk around the water park wishing he could go in. I’m sure the place itself during the open season is pretty fun and exciting. But overall every part of the park that we knew would make the experience great we weren’t able to enjoy. Hope this helps anyone who might be going earlier in the summer season!
