I am very appalled when I see the stupid one star Reviews.
I have come to this campground for over twelve years and Karl, the owner, and his staff are nothing but friendly and polite and very outgoing and help us with all of our needs at anytime.
They have tons of activities going on on the weekend for all my kids and then they have live bands for all of the adults.
Beautiful heated inground pool and the Schroon River are great to hang out in! Swim, fish, tube, kayaking and canoe.
Almost everything's included in your fee, including a caricature artist and a balloon twisting lady and much more...
They go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful time.
Very friendly campers!
They don't allow rif raf and bad behavior like drunks that can't be nice to others.
Thank you Karl, Cricket, Linda, Dillion, Bobby, Mike, Maria and others for a fantastic time! 馃槂

While my kids and I did have an enjoyable vacation, there are things I'd wished we'd known before choosing this campground.
Firstly, we had to wait quite a while to get someone by the store/office to check in. Cricket was very friendly and helpful, but after driving quite a while and with kids waiting in the car, that was less than ideal. The complimentary bag each of ice and firewood delivered by Cricket while escorting us to the site was welcome.
The site we selected was in the new area not shown on the campground's map, but available on the booking site. What the photo shows on the booking site is not at all what the site looked like. The new area is basically a giant field of gravel with picinic tables and stone fire rings with minimal shade at the edges, not the woodsy site shown on the booking site. Huge disappointment and we felt bamboozled. Walking past other campers, they were quick to share this disappointment with me as well. Photos attached.
But we made the best of it. We tried to head to the advertised beach, but this was basically a muddy postage stamp with a roped off area in the water smaller than our tent! Ok, let's walk up to this heated pool. Ice cold. My kids lasted 5 minutes before bailing on that.
We share the experience other reviewers have mentioned of noisy neighbors, but hey, what can ya do? It just might not be the place for families who like quiet.
Also someone left a dog doo on the side of the main road right behind the playground. I know that happens, but it kind of added to my sense of the campers I was sharing this place with.
There is kind of a lot junk laying around, either in the long-term sites or, for instance, the broken down backhoe that looks like it hasn't been moved in 10 years.
The port-a-potties and showers were kept clean, the laundry room was fine and reasonably priced. The store is great.
I'm not saying it was awful, but it was very "meh" and I wouldn't stay here again.
Can't wait to be called a liar by the owner. That'll be fun. (...aaannnnddd, there it is. Took less time than I thought. Yes, I'm totally lying about my opinions. Talk about a one-trick pony. Taking the review down a star, because the response to a thoughtful review is always just to disparege the reviewer and not actually address any concerns mentioned, which has got to be the single stupidest way to run a business. /eyeroll)

Great campground. Karl the owner, goes out of his way to provide fun activities that you won't find at other campgrounds. The staff are very friendly and do all they can to make everyone's stay as memorable as possible. They are constantly improving the sites and facilities to maintain a clean safe and fun environment. The seasonal campers here are the best kind of people. Love this place.

If you are looking for a place where you can relax, have fun, and spend quality time with your family or friends, this may not be the right place for you.
During your stay, you may find yourself limited in many activities, even during the daytime. The reason is that the neighbors are older permanent residents who do not like when guests have gatherings or simply enjoy their vacation. Instead of communicating directly, they often complain to the owner.
Unfortunately, the owner does not seem to know how to properly manage a property with different types of guests. People who come for a few days with family or friends should be treated differently from permanent residents, but this balance is not handled well.
The owner鈥檚 behavior was also very disappointing. He drives around in his white Volvo, rolls down the window, and without even getting out of the car starts shouting that he is the owner. He then speaks to guests in a rude and disrespectful way, giving orders and telling people what they should or should not do instead of having a normal, polite, and professional conversation. This creates a very uncomfortable atmosphere and does not reflect the level of respect and customer service you would expect from someone running a hospitality business.
I understand that every place has rules, but the way those rules are communicated and enforced makes a big difference. Unfortunately, this experience felt more stressful than enjoyable.
I recommend reading reviews carefully before booking. If you are looking for a place where you can comfortably spend time with family or friends, enjoy your vacation, and feel welcomed, you may want to consider other options. Save your money and choose a place where guests are treated with respect.

Huge, thanks to Linda cricket Bobby Dylan, they are an amazing staff very friendly the barbecues the bands playground all of the attractions for the kids that they do. It鈥檚 just amazing.
