Buffalo Gap Campground (ND)

We really enjoyed our stay at Buffalo Gap Campground! It was so peaceful and quiet which made it such a relaxing place to camp. Even though there were other campers nearby, it still felt calm and tucked away from everything. One of our favorite parts was nighttime the sky was incredibly dark, and we could see so many stars. It was beautiful and honestly one of the highlights of our stay. If you’re looking for a quiet campground near Medora where you can relax and enjoy some amazing night skies, this is a great spot!🌌

Great practical campground for an overnight stop while traveling through western North Dakota. I stayed one night during a cross-country road trip and really appreciated having a comfortable place to reset after a long driving day. The shower was especially welcome, and I was able to clean up, cook dinner, reorganize my car, and get a good night’s rest before continuing west the next morning. Convenient for travelers passing through the Theodore Roosevelt National Park area. I’d happily stay here again.

Nice campground host nice spaces. The water tasts and smells very coppery and the bathrooms and showers need to be rebuilt. Two flush toilots, one the sink dosn't work, exhaust fan works but the lights don't, peeling paint, ect..

This campsite was very nice and beautiful scenery. Awesome stargazing at night. Bathrooms were good and so were the showers. Would definitely come back!

Very cordial camp host

Site 12 list as 65 ft but is actually only about 40 maybe 45. I reported it to the camp host and he agreed it was wrong. I don't know about the other sites but this one was way off on length. Other than that it's a nice little campground.

Great base for exploring the area.

Nice and clean, great camping spots, easy access, easy reservations.

Initially reserved a site, but upon arrival found that we would not fit. Found one in the unreserved section that fit our set up. Host was very helpful and accommodating. The lanes and paved sights are very narrow, with most having ditches on each side of the entry into them. Most sights are not flat. No hook ups, but a couple bathrooms and showers available. Having said that once you’re settled the campsites are very spacious and private. Very quiet area. Close to Medora, the TR Presidential Library and of course the National Parks. Planned on two nights, stayed for nine. We enjoyed our stay.

This campground is located just off the interstate and a few short miles west of Medora. There are two loops, Mandan and Hidatsa. Mandan has about 20 sites, under trees, and is reservable. The Hidatsa loop is closer to the Interstate and first come first served. When I stayed there, the Mandan loop was about half full, while the Hidatsa loop looked full or close to. IMO, the Mandan loop is nicer and certainly quieter. I was in site 4, which is close to a flush toilet and a shower house! The host is on the ball and very helpful.
