What Guests Are Saying
Lazy Fish at Pelican Point offers friendly service and positive experiences for groups, particularly during events like the James River cornhole tournament. However, families may find the atmosphere less suitable due to the recent transformation of the campground, which has shifted towards a party vibe, particularly around the new dock area. While some visitors appreciate the excellent views and quick service, others express concern about safety and the lack of a family-friendly environment, especially during busy holidays like the Fourth of July.

We’re usually out here for the James River corn hole tournament in the summers but they have been friendly and helpful when we’re there! I even got them to try out a new dipping sauce for one of the dessert egg roles and they loved it!

After camping here for years with my children ranging 8 to 18 years old, I would have to say I am highly disappointed in how the family oriented vibe went away
I was told that they had redid the campground When we arrived, we noticed there was a dock that was new by the tent
sites
What we didn’t know as that dock was going to be a party barge with men and women touching each other all over and Twerking With rated R music blaring the whole campgroundin front of my small children And everyone else else’s small children remind you this was the Fourth of July. It was very busy. There were boats beached all along the swimming areas, and everyone else believed boats do not belong. It was very dangerous. I had to yell at multiple jet ski riders that they were way too close. To shore, as he was trying to whip around and splash people on the dock with his jet ski as me and my two little girls were swimming I have been hit the head by a jet ski in my teenagers, so yes, I know how bad that can be and how dangerous that is I am very ashamed that they turned this dock into a spring break themed barge it is not family oriented. It is disgusting to look at and watch. I understand we want to have a good time, but where do families go to get away from that those people can go to the bars to party like that to act like that that is no place to act around other people’s children
And the worst part about it was, it was the owner himself and his friends or family of whomever he was OK. I will not be back next year and I know many others won’t either. Because of this
Keep that stuff at your bar not where people are paying to enjoy the getaway from that to relax with their children and their families. Fourth of July is About America and being proud to be in American and for families to get together not for people to act like that on a dock in front of these families who are paying a lot of money to have a time Peacefully that they can enjoy with their children and make memories
In other words. If you’re a college age person you’ll probably have a great time. If you want a safe peaceful get away with your family. Go elsewhere

We rented site 13 and for being the first site you see/pass by, we really have no bad things to say. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean for being a campground, shower room is a bit outdated/dirty but that is to be expected at a campground. The site was great, hookups worked and no issues. Fire pit was clean and picnic table was sturdy. We did pay for the upgraded wifi and it worked great. If i had to find something to mention it would be that the weekend we were there it was very busy and lots of traffic for a couple events going on but that was planned way before us so that’s not a downside, just something to be aware of. Overall 5/5.

We rented campsite 31 which is listed as a pull-through. Upon arrival, we find out that campsite 32 is occupied and blocks us from being able to pull through. OK whatever so we back-in. The picnic tables and fire pits are right next to each other so not really conducive to private use. The women's bathroom only has one shower while the men have a shower room separate from their bathroom. The second day we're there the campers in site 32 parked their truck and bought right up to our camper. We checked in online so we never saw anyone from the office. We packed up and left even though we had planned to stay longer.
