Cottonwood Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful experience with spacious, well-maintained sites and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the close encounters with bison and the serene natural surroundings, making it a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts. While some noted issues with insects and site leveling, the overall atmosphere and friendly camp hosts contributed to a memorable stay.

This campground was excellent! The bathroom was close by this campsite, which was great for our family. We had a nice open field to view, and the space from other sites made it feel more private.
We had a bison walking around the bathroom area and continued down closer to us but stayed on the other side of the road in the evening. In the morning, we saw a horse run across the field. Then we had a major encounter with a bison that wandered right along the road toward our car. A passing vehicle startled it, and it quickly moved on up to our tent, where I shoved my kids in and climbed in right after as it rounded the corner where we had been moments before. We waited him out, and he finally moved along.
A memorable experience, but if you don’t love the closer encounters, you might want to camp elsewhere.
We would absolutely camp here again!

Excellent campground, well maintained, very accessible. Dozens of bison wandered through the campground at many points of the day and night. May be a concern with small children.

Fantastic and quiet campground, except for the thundering herd of buffalo that came through our site just as we were packing up our tent.

Really nice place. Camp host was super friendly and helpful. Water fill station available to fill you trailer fresh water tank, but no dump station. Would have liked it better if picnic table faced the passenger side.

Easy access to camp site. Laundry only 1.50 per washer load. Dryer $1.00. Awesome spot for one night while traveling across country

Nice campground + site, steps away from the river. The sites are fairly close, and this one is right next to where all of the cars park for the walk-to sites (so fair warning in case people are arriving late as their vehicle sounds and lights may be more present), but I would camp at this site again. Woke up with bison right outside the site, which was very cool. We stayed on a clear night and kept the rain fly off the tent so we could watch the stars! Would recommend this site to anyone!

Would’ve been Five stars if they still had first come sites to pick from, my stay was only one night because it wasn’t available for second night, someone else had it reserved.
