I love the location of the campground. It is near the river in a nice grove of trees, the badlands are easily visible, and the bison herd roaming through is priceless.

Cottonwood Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful experience with spacious, well-maintained sites and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the close encounters with bison and the serene natural surroundings, making it a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts. While some noted issues with insects and site leveling, the overall atmosphere and friendly camp hosts contributed to a memorable stay.

Nice quiet campground. Bathrooms could use some plumbing updates. Sad to see the Leafy Spurge so out-of-control. Would use the campground again.

We stopped here on our way back to Ohio from a 108 mi paddle along the Upper Missouri in Montana. The group campsite at Cottonwood was perfect for our group of 12 campers, and visiting TRNP was a beautiful ending for our trip. The campsite includes a private shelter house w/ 3 picnic tables -- I hadn't read about it, so it was a nice surprise! The campground was quiet and the bathrooms were clean. The water was potable but not the best tasting. Several bison paid a visit to the campsite in the morning.
