Located five miles (5 mi) from the entrance to the South Unit of the park, the campground is open year-round. Great campground next to the river. After arriving, we immediately saw a bison and three wild horses on the other side of the river. Another bison was just hanging around the campground entrance the next morning. Great opportunity to stay in the park and discover this beautiful piece of earth.

Beautiful location with lovely views of the badlands on both sides. Site 62 is on the edge of the campground surrounded by prairie. Very open site, with just a couple trees on one edge. Convenient location for exploring the south unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. There were bison tracks through the campsite both days I was camped there, but it didn't bother my tent.

We really enjoyed the campground! We saw a lot of wildlife and enjoyed the nightly presentation by “Barb” the campground host! My one negative is, compared to other campgrounds in National Parks these bathrooms need better cleaning. Other than that I would recommend the stay!
