Cottonwood Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful experience with spacious, well-maintained sites and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the close encounters with bison and the serene natural surroundings, making it a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts. pleasant campground surrounded by amazing terrain and wildlife. Touring around both upper and lower parks makes you wish you had studied geology and seeing the bison, pronghorn antelope and those cute little prairie dogs up close is a memory for a lifetime

Beautiful riverside location just 5 miles inside the park gates. Walk-in tent only sites are a short distance (but not too close) from the newly constructed bathrooms, well spaced and directly on the riverbank with great views - the best in the campground. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring or elevated grill. Visited in mid-May - at that time no campground host was on duty but the facility was orderly and clean and the other campers friendly and respectful of each other and the environment. Spent the evening with my campsite neighbors sharing a fire and watching bison graze and wade in the river.

A Bison Near the Bathroom: It is a very nice campground. The only drawbacks is that some of the sites are situated quite close to other sites particularly in the north loo so it does not provide a lot of privacy. Also we loved seeing bison but one wanted to brush his teeth at the bathroom the same time as us so just prepare accordingly and keep you dogs close to you in case you turn the corner and find a large furry friend!
