Setting of campground was beyond expectations. Bison and fall colors of Cottonwood... Awesome.

Cottonwood Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful experience with spacious, well-maintained sites and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the close encounters with bison and the serene natural surroundings, making it a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts. While some noted issues with insects and site leveling, the overall atmosphere and friendly camp hosts contributed to a memorable stay.

Too many unused good campsites. Campground listed full but first night at least 15 unused sites. Add an extra fee for people who don’t cancel. As popular as this campground will become with the new library, at least add electric to the sites if not water.

This is a beautiful campground nestled among beautiful Cottonwood trees along the little Missouri River. It is a lovely place just to stroll through while being being surrounded by the timeless serenity and majesty of nature that surrounds you in that place.

The first night we were there the wind gusts were up to 55 mph. Tents were blown down. Although there was nothing park rangers could do about the wind they did check on us routinely. Next day was gorgeous and saw lots of bison, horses, coyotes and prairie dogs. It was fabulous!

Terrific campground—generous space between sites, great sunset, buffalo, coyotes, everything one needs to know that one is in western North Dakota. We’ll be back!

We liked everything about this campground, especially the friendly and helpful reception when we arrived. We also liked the extensive paved hiking trails.

Conveniently located for exploring the Badlands and visiting the Teddy Roosevelt Library, both of which are very worthwhile.
