Excellent sites, level with water and power available. The kiosk to pay made paying super easy.

Cottonwood Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful experience with spacious, well-maintained sites and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the close encounters with bison and the serene natural surroundings, making it a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts. While some noted issues with insects and site leveling, the overall atmosphere and friendly camp hosts contributed to a memorable stay.

Site was nice. It backed right up onto the Little Missouri River. We could hear the coyotes and saw a distance lightning storm during the night - awesome. Close to good services and restaurants in Medora. Liked the north part of the park more but this part was also very nice. Lots of buffalo and prairie dogs. But campground was a little crowded, with many big rigs running their generators both early in the morning and late into the night.

Location is incredible for wildlife and scenery. There is potable water at the campground to fill up tanks, but no electricity or dumping station. The campground was quiet and the star gazing right from our site was amazing!

Site 5 was not fully accessible for vehicle. Pull through site. There was a huge tree with an enormous branch that extended out across the pull through and my vehicle did not have clearance to pass underneath, let alone the trailer. Had to drop the trailer at the very end, then maneuver my truck carefully around the branch. To get out, I had to do the same in reverse and back the trailer out of the pull through site. Trailer had to block the path to the restroom where it sat. It was a 25' trailer and was within posted limit for site. Otherwise, liked the campground and nice ranger talk.

Campground is generally quite picturesque and nice for boondocking. Site 28 was labeled as a pull through and very confusingly is attached to site 30 which is back-in.
Do not miss the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library - excellent museum and amazing architecture.
The South Unit Wildlife loop is grand, but time of day is critical for maximal wildlife viewing - early morning in particular.

Very pleasant and quiet campground (other than peoples' generators and a bit of road noise). The newer bathrooms are nice and clean. Fun to view wild horses from our campsites (#47 and #9).

Nice level site. Close to the bathrooms. Quiet. Visited by a bison one morning.

We have camped here a few times, always in the walk-in tent area. People here tend to be very respectful of other campers particularly around noise. It’s a great setting with some trees for shade and on the River. It’s great watching the bison and horses crossing the River. Sunsets and sunrises are great!
