This area is beautiful and the campground is very nice. We got 12 miles in hiking around the lake which was nice with the different rock formations and cliffs that are along the trail. We were very disappointed that the lake had been emptied and that there wasn't more information about that on the first page of the web site. You had to scan through many reviews to find any mention of this. The campground is mostly private with large camping areas in most. I'm guessing that it only being about 50% filled is due to the lake.

As a tent camper, I loved that this site is wooded and it didn't feel like we were right next to a bunch of RV's. There is a cute grocery store about 15 mins away in Ironton that had all the things we ran out of or forgot. The bathroom rooms were cleaned and maintained daily and if your mobile provider is Tmobile, you shouldnt have much of an issue with reception. I really loved this site and will definitely be booking it again. Also we were at site 33, site 32 which was right next to us would be great for tent camping as well.

Nice campground. You can tell they strive to keep it well maintained. Great to have shower facilities

Quiet and beautiful. My site was marked for me though without my name. Bathrooms
Really need an update. Though there was soap, the hand dryer in the men's room was inoperable.

It was a little confusing finding the campsite w/o GPS. Fortunately, when we arrived at the incorrect location, there was a volunteer to redirect us. There was some road construction where the road was washed away. When we reached Lake Vesuvius we found out the lake had been drained over a year ago. My SIL had to search the park website to get that information. It should have been more prominently posted. The campsite itself was beautiful. Friendly neighbors. Not too close. Would go again when the lake is refilled!

Shady, secluded, and tidy. Exactly what a campground should be. :)

Such a nice place it was off in a little corner where me and the gf could spend quality time doing nothing

The lake was drained but that wasn't a big problem for us. The scenery is great and Iron Ridge Campground is nicely wooded. The site range from private to fairly private. There is almost no cell service. The bathrooms were very clean. There are plenty of ticks and mosquitoes, so be sure to pack bug spray. The camp hosts were very friendly. We've put Iron Ridge on are list to come back to.
