It was a little confusing finding the campsite w/o GPS. Fortunately, when we arrived at the incorrect location, there was a volunteer to redirect us. There was some road construction where the road was washed away. When we reached Lake Vesuvius we found out the lake had been drained over a year ago. My SIL had to search the park website to get that information. It should have been more prominently posted. The campsite itself was beautiful. Friendly neighbors. Not too close. Would go again when the lake is refilled!

Shady, secluded, and tidy. Exactly what a campground should be. :)

Such a nice place it was off in a little corner where me and the gf could spend quality time doing nothing

The lake was drained but that wasn't a big problem for us. The scenery is great and Iron Ridge Campground is nicely wooded. The site range from private to fairly private. There is almost no cell service. The bathrooms were very clean. There are plenty of ticks and mosquitoes, so be sure to pack bug spray. The camp hosts were very friendly. We've put Iron Ridge on are list to come back to.

This was our first visit to this location. Although it rained most of our weekend there, we knew it was needed and we did not let it dampen our spirits. The campground and surrounding areas were well kept and clean. We enjoyed our site, although it was a little more unlevel than preferred. We plan to possibly revisit in the future and we can hopefully experience less rain and more outdoor activities.

Clean and quiet campground. Only problem we had ( the dog and I ) was ticks. After a 2 hour hike thru the woods , I found 20 ticks. Not the campground or NPS fault. Just a sign of things to come.
