This was our first stay at a Recreation.gov camp and there's only one word to describe it .... WOW!!!!! We were so amazed at how clean, well maintained and beautiful this site was. We woke up along the water's edge to a fantastic sunrise and spent the entire day relaxing and enjoying all of the natural beauty. The Park Ranger was phenomenal and helped us find another site that was open so that we could sit by the water's edge.

I enjoyed my stay at Belle Starr. The camp area was very clean. I had a beautiful view of the lake from my campsite and it was a very short walk to the water. The restroom wasn’t great but it was decent. It was cleaned daily. It is a short drive to the towns of Eufaula and Checotah. I will definitely be going back.

We had a super nice spot! It was almost like we had our own private beach! Volunteers were nice. I talked to one for a while and told her how much we liked it there and are hoping to find camp hosts spots for the winter. She gave me some suggestions.

General

  • October-March there are no gate attendants on duty, a volunteer will make rounds and check in/out campers. If you need assistance please call the Eufaula Project Office 918-799-5843
  • Gates open at 6AM and close at 10PM. Camping is permitted in designated campsites only.  Each campsite is limited to 1 wheeled camping unit with up to 3 tents.  Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days within any 30 day period.  Campers must occupy the campsite at least once during each 24 hour period. Each campsite may not have its own water spigot, some share with adjacent sites consequently you may need extra hose to reach, we apologize for the inconvenience. Campers shall keep their sites free of trash and litter during the period of occupancy and shall remove all personal equipment and clean their sites upon departure. Fires must be contained within the fire ring or grill provided. These are NOT trash receptacles, please leave them free of food and litter upon departure.  Bathrooms are closed and winterized from November 1st - March 31st.
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
