Cookson Bend offers a generally pleasant camping experience with friendly and helpful staff, clean bathrooms, and nice lakefront campsites. However, some areas require maintenance, including overgrown sites and trash management. While the campground has potential, improvements in facilities and cleanliness would enhance future visits.

It was good except the dump station was full! Also the water was rusty. The site was a little overgrown and had some trash around it but was a good location.

The campground is quite nice overall, but the bathrooms and showers need to be updated, as they are somewhat outdated.

Mine and several other sites were not mowed. We were taken over by ants. They were even coming inside the camper and biting us. They were in the bath rooms as well. EVERY trash bin was running over, stinking and again millions of ants. Worse experience I have ever had at this camp. I also HATE the required reservation for the park. I usually stay at least 2 week per month beginning in April thru September and have been for many years; however, this is the first time I could stay this year and was limited to the 6 days. PLEASE remove the reservation requirements on this park.

Our camping trip was awesome but: They park overall is a MESS. There is always a reason given by the host. No funding / can’t get any help.etc. The park is in great need of clean up. Fix driveways / huge piles of debris all over some from last year as well. Very unkept. Just looks like no one cares.

outside of the storm that hit saturday night and a boat getting stranded just off-shore, it was a great weekend.

The marina was great and very helpful. The camp sites were probably some of the worst I’ve seen. Glass all down the shoreline. That was my first trip to cookson bend and Tinkiller lake and it will be my last. Very unimpressed overall.

Me and my partner had a great night here! The campsite was a bit difficult to locate at first because it was down unpaved trails where everywhere else was paved, but it was in a nice, secluded spot. Just a short drive or walk down to the boat launch where you could swim freely, perfect temperature this time of year. Great spot for the price, stayed in a standard non-electric site.

The main issue I had out there was with the bathrooms, particularly the showers, which weren’t the best. Aside from that, it’s a lovely campground, and I would enjoy staying there again.

From Tahlequah, OK go 17.5 miles southeast on Highway 82. Look for sings for Tenkiller and turn right, then
go two miles west on the paved access road.
The campground is accessed via Highway 82, which is approximately 17.5 miles from Tahlequah, OK. No interstates or other major highways are mentioned within 25 miles.

General
- You must stop and register at the Gate Shack upon arrival.
- Entrance gate will be closed during this time.
- Limit 3 tents, or 1 wheeled camper and 2 tents per camp pad.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Pets must remain restrained on a leash or penned at all times. Pets are NOT allowed on swim beaches or in bathrooms.
- Grey water and sewage must be properly disposed of in the provided dump station receptacle. Disposal of any water or waste on the ground is prohibited.
- Group shelters are for day use only.
- Fireworks are prohibited.
- Fishing and hunting are regulated by federal and state laws.
- Campers must occupy the campsite at least once during each 24 hour period. Abandoned personal property may be subject to impoundment after 24 hours.
- Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days within any 30 day period. This applies to all members of the camping party and the camping unit.
- Fires must be contained within the fire ring or grill provided. These are NOT trash receptacles, please leave them free of food and litter upon departure.
- Campers shall keep their sites free of trash and litter during the period of occupancy and shall remove all personal equipment and clean their sites upon departure. Trash must be placed in the provided dumpsters.
