What Guests Are Saying
Doris Campground offers a serene environment with beautiful views, well-maintained facilities, and abundant wildlife, making it a great choice for nature lovers. We stayed for one night while traveling. The park is BEAUTIFUL. Plenty of wildlife surrounding the area, including in the campground- several cows made their way through. There is so much to see and do in the 5 miles around the park. The sites are big and secluded. Our only issue was the facilities- it was the most outdated shower service I’ve used at any camp. I understand the expectation of bugs and such when going outdoors, but the shower was difficult to use with the bottom filling with water, poorly draining, and several large spiders and scorpions around you. They were doing maintenance on some of the showers and bathrooms, so maybe an update is on its way. We appreciated the firewood and ice being close, and even the folks at the visitor center were incredibly kind. We were headed out early in the day before they opened, and they let us in early so we could buy some souvenirs from our visit.

Beautiful campsite! Just a few steps away from the water, and a direct shot down the road to the bathrooms and showers (locking stalls, showers, TP - all we needed for camping bathrooms!). The site itself had so much shade, there were many tent location options. We did see wild longhorns a couple times during our stay, which was surprising to stumble upon, but you are in a wildlife refuge! The front entry had firewood and ice available, which was unexpected and very convenient. The campground is just a short drive to Mt Scott, Medicine Park, and many amazing hiking sites just down the road. We are definitely returning to Doris, and probably this same site again!

Very enjoyable site! Trees for shade, great trails, plenty of wildlife to observe. Comfort facilities are available if you need them. Will camp here again.

Nice and wild place. There was a lot of nocturnal animal activity and not many people at the campsite so we slept nervous. In addition, a military base nearby was blowing things up and we could hear it all. We did not sleep well. We saw a herd of bison, that was brilliant.

From I-44 take Highway 49 (exit 45). Go west 7 miles to the Refuge gate or 14 miles to the Visitor Center. If coming from Highway 62, take Highway 115 (Cache exit) north to the Refuge Gate.
Doris Campground is accessible via I-44 and Highway 49, with Highway 49 leading west for 7 miles to the Refuge gate. Additionally, Highway 62 is nearby, with Highway 115 providing access to the Refuge gate.
