My first site was more private than my first. Clean restrooms & showers. I’m going back on the 15th for more fun in the refuge. It’s a diamond hidden in the hills. So beautiful.

I did not realize at the time of booking that one of the restrooms had been demolished. Park was clean and the bathroom that still exists was also clean.

A great place to get away from the crowds. The hiking trails are perfect for family enjoyment. The bass in the lake are active and healthy. The campsites are clean and spacious. We can’t wait to visit again.

Site 44 was awesome and easily the best spot on the loop. It has super easy access to the water, and the picnic table is actually set farthest from the road, which made it feel more peaceful than most sites. The only slightly odd thing is that the neighboring site is pretty close and kind of butted up against it, but honestly, all the neighbors were quiet and wonderful, so it was a non issue. Overall, a fantastic site and one I would happily book again.

From I-44 take Highway 49 (exit 45). Go west 7 miles to the Refuge gate or 14 miles to the Visitor Center. If coming from Highway 62, take Highway 115 (Cache exit) north to the Refuge Gate.
Doris Campground is accessible via I-44 and Highway 49, with Highway 49 leading west for 7 miles to the Refuge gate. Additionally, Highway 62 is nearby, with Highway 115 providing access to the Refuge gate.
