About Doris Campground

Worn by time and nature, the Wichita Mountains loom large above the prairie in southwest Oklahoma—a lasting refuge for wildlife. Situated just outside the Lawton/Ft. Sill area, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge preserves approximately 60,000 acres of mixed grass prairie, ancient granite mountains, and fresh water lakes and streams for the benefit of wildlife and the American people. Best known for its roaming herds of bison, longhorn, and Rocky Mountain elk, Wichita Mountains also offers quality opportunities for wildlife dependent recreation including fishing, bird watching, wildlife photography, hiking, camping, and kayaking.

Doris Campground offers a serene environment with beautiful views, well-maintained facilities, and abundant wildlife, making it a great choice for nature lovers. Many campers appreciated the clean bathrooms and friendly camp hosts, as well as the opportunity for hiking and exploring the nearby Wichita Mountains. The campsite was tucked in with quick access to the water. The facilities were nice and the refuge itself felt more like a safari than a campground. A truly unique experience! Would definitely stay again!

The campground was well-maintained and very nice. We stayed at Site 53, which is right across the road from the bathrooms. Next time I might choose a site a little further from the road but it didn’t bother us. I will definitely be camping at Doris again - great experience.

We have stayed here many times both with the Scouts and with the family. I love the location and the activities of the surrounding area.
We will be back?

Great spot! Love being in the mountains. Easy to access, drive-up site that allowed me to truck camp comfortably.

Campsite was clear and well maintained. Bathrooms were very clean. The map was a bit confusing. There is not always bathrooms or water exactly where the map indicates. It took a bit of exploring to find the facilities.

I was in the first loop 1 to 18. It was nice having the whole area to myself. The deer would walk through just before sunset and at sunrise. I will definitely be staying there again. Just be aware you will not have no cellphone service.
