Doris Campground

campground is nice but the bathrooms could use some updating

Quiet and lots of wildlife!

Beautiful spot with plenty of shade and level pad. Very quiet with plenty of space in between sites. Bathrooms were a bit far but we were self contained so did not use. I do wish the preserve had a place to get food or snacks. We will definitely be back as the Wichita Mountains are one of our favorite places to go.

The host was lovely

The camp host was super friendly and very willing to fix the only issue with the campsite- there was no TP in the bathrooms. Only bad part was that the camp was picked clean of good firewood, which is nobody’s fault.

Super clean campsite and bathrooms. Hidden treasure!

My campsite was private enough that headlights weren’t regularly glaring into it which is greatly appreciated (almost nothing worse when camping). Picnic table and fire ring were in good shape and water spigot was in working order! Bathroom was clean. I would definitely camp here again whenever I’m back in the area.

We love Doris campground and love staying right on the refuge! We stayed in loop E which has many fully shaded spots and electric access. We stayed close to the main restroom/bathhouse which was very convenient. I hope the bathhouse is updated soon but we still appreciate a place to shower on site. It was very quiet while we were there and no excess lighting. Our main purpose there was to view the scenery and wildlife. I feel like we will be back soon.
