What Guests Are Saying
Doris Campground offers a serene environment with beautiful views, well-maintained facilities, and abundant wildlife, making it a great choice for nature lovers. Many campers appreciated the clean bathrooms and friendly camp hosts, as well as the opportunity for hiking and exploring the nearby Wichita Mountains. However, some guests noted challenges in finding water access and occasional litter left by previous campers, but overall, the positive experiences and natural beauty outweigh the negatives.

We loved it here and didn’t leave the refuge until Sunday for church. Made a stop at the famous Meer’s burgers for lunch and right back into the refuge. So many places to hike including right out of your camp spot with trails going around the lake all over the mountain across bridges, there’s even a cool forest like you’ve never seen before. I’ve posted a review video on our You Tube channel Roadtrip Dreams not only of Doris campground but the forest too.

This is a wonderful place! We stayed in one of the walk-in sites for Memorial Day weekend (two adults, three kids). Those sites are particularly special. The entire campground has reasonably good privacy and shade because of all the oaks, and there are showers! Don't expect any cell service, and keep in mind that the fire rings don't have grilling grates but each campsite also has a standalone charcoal grill.
