About Doris Campground

Worn by time and nature, the Wichita Mountains loom large above the prairie in southwest Oklahoma—a lasting refuge for wildlife. Situated just outside the Lawton/Ft. Sill area, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge preserves approximately 60,000 acres of mixed grass prairie, ancient granite mountains, and fresh water lakes and streams for the benefit of wildlife and the American people. Best known for its roaming herds of bison, longhorn, and Rocky Mountain elk, Wichita Mountains also offers quality opportunities for wildlife dependent recreation including fishing, bird watching, wildlife photography, hiking, camping, and kayaking.

Doris Campground offers a serene environment with beautiful views, well-maintained facilities, and abundant wildlife, making it a great choice for nature lovers. Many campers appreciated the clean bathrooms and friendly camp hosts, as well as the opportunity for hiking and exploring the nearby Wichita Mountains. We really enjoyed our stay at Doris campground. It was my 4th visit there. They have clean restrooms and showers to use and the Witchita Mountains are spectacular. I will definitely return there for another visit.

I recently stayed at Doris Campground and had an incredible experience! The campsite was everything I hoped for: peaceful, not overcrowded, and perfectly balanced between seclusion and convenience. The layout of the sites provides enough privacy to feel like you’re away from it all, yet you’re never too far from other campers if needed.

The campground itself was very well-kept, with clean grounds and well-maintained facilities. The bathroom and shower facilities were especially impressive—spotless and a welcome comfort after a day of exploring the refuge.

Overall, Doris Campground is an excellent place to relax and connect with nature. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and beautifully maintained camping experience. I’ll definitely be returning!

I use a fully functioning rig so got a spot with electricity and the water was close. The campground is centrally placed in the reserve giving easy access to a lot of very nice hiking. The campground was full and well maintained. They seem to have centralized the bathrooms which for some campers might be quite the walk. Overall, I'd definitely go again and do some additional hiking. The area is fantastic.
