About Doris Campground

Worn by time and nature, the Wichita Mountains loom large above the prairie in southwest Oklahoma—a lasting refuge for wildlife. Situated just outside the Lawton/Ft. Sill area, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge preserves approximately 60,000 acres of mixed grass prairie, ancient granite mountains, and fresh water lakes and streams for the benefit of wildlife and the American people. Best known for its roaming herds of bison, longhorn, and Rocky Mountain elk, Wichita Mountains also offers quality opportunities for wildlife dependent recreation including fishing, bird watching, wildlife photography, hiking, camping, and kayaking.

Doris Campground offers a serene environment with beautiful views, well-maintained facilities, and abundant wildlife, making it a great choice for nature lovers. Many campers appreciated the clean bathrooms and friendly camp hosts, as well as the opportunity for hiking and exploring the nearby Wichita Mountains. Very nice campground (I stayed at campsite 7). Clean, spacious and private enough. It also has access to various hikes directly from the campground which was great. No cellphone service but I didn't care.
The rest of the park is also very cool and unique. I recommend downloading some maps and trails, as some areas are not very well traced (Elk Mountain for example).

We've been visiting the Wichita Wildlife Refuge for over 25 years and have always loved the Doris Campground, but the new updates are wonderful! We loved being there during a quiet time and enjoyed having the place to ourselves. The new bathrooms and showers are extremely comfortable. We look forward to returning.

Nice spot and the entire area is beautiful. Only complaint is that my fire area was full of ash so i had to spend my first hour at dusk cleaning all that up instead of setting up and there was no ideal place to dispose of all the ash.

Rustic campgrounds, no water at site, but a pump nearby to fill water bottles. No cell connection at all until a few miles away from park. Still was an enjoyable overnight stay.
