Host were great. Nicest shower/bathroom facilities in any public campground I’ve visited. Lake is great for swimming and kayaking. I also like the sites themselves, spacious and well defined.

The roads are really narrow, so be prepared to leave your boat in the parking lot at the boat ramp. Also, two tents max at each campsite unless they are really small. The bathrooms were the best of any camp sites we have been too! We did have raccoons visit, they were cute trying to find things! We thoroughly enjoyed the stay! It’s so very beautiful!

Very level site
Lots of extra gravel around to help with dirt not tracking into the camper
Lovely large area for picnic table and fire ring

Trails are sooooo poorly marked. Several times we found ourselves following paths to camping sites when we thought we'd been headed to a hiking trail. And....your trail maps are terrible.

Absolutely loved this area. The campsites were well maintained, the bathrooms were clean and there was plenty to do. Just know that if you want to take to the trails, you’ll have to drive to the trailheads. Also, make sure you check out a map before you head to the area as cell service is very limited and GPS will likely take you to Guy Sandy campground which is a good 20-30 minute drive on country roads from the main campgrounds for loops A,B,C and D.
If you have time, head into Sulfur for some cute stores and your best bet for finding firewood. Definitely check out Travertine Creek to cool off in the summer. It gets crowded fast but it’s beautiful and the water is cold (very helpful during our 102 degree days). Finally, pack plenty of sunscreen, bug repellent and Cayenne pepper. The mosquitoes are fierce and the raccoons are fearless. We shook the pepper around our campsite at night to deter them from digging through our fire (yes, one actually stuck his hands in the embers to get some food we had in it) and getting too close to us at night. Please be careful with this if you have pets, it will be uncomfortable for them as well!
