Hyatt Lake Recreation Area

The camp hosts at Hyatt Lake Recreation area were EXCELLENT! We initially reserved a site that wasn't ideal for our size toy hauler, and they helped us transfer to another one. When backing in was complicated by stumps in the way, they cut the stumps out to make it easier. Not only were they friendly and personable, they went over the top to help our time at the campground be enjoyable. They get 10 stars. The campground gets four stars because the it was made in the 60's, making access to larger sites difficult.

After we were set we took inventory and for a 34' toy hauler, reserve one of these sites: A16 near bathroom path, A3 pull through, can't use awning, have to go down hill to table, B28 nicely private but no lake view, C31 leveling might be a challenge but beautiful view of lake, C39 lake view but can't use awning, C43 lake view but small landing by door, C44 door faces away from lake, near bathroom, nice lake view. FOR WILDCAT: 1 needs a bit of leveling, 2 nice site, 3 awning would bump trees but good otherwise, 5 pull through would have to drive loop backwards to enter but nice site, 10 nice with close neighbors, 9 nice with close neighbors. 9 and 10 together would be great if traveling with another family.

Check lake levels before you go, Boat ramp A was closed due to low water, but ramp C and wildcat ramp were open.

Our usual trip to Hyatt Lake Horsecamp was excllent. The camp hosts were awesome.!

Made a last minute reservation and just stayed for a night. It was quiet and serene by the lake, with beautiful opportunities to watch for birds. Definitely appreciated my mosquito repellents!

Gorgeous campsite. And lovely hike on the PCT!

I stayed 2 nights in loop b, site 20. It’s pretty level, and fully shaded. There’s a fire ring, but I don’t remember a picnic table. The bathroom was clean enough. Bring quarters for the shower. It’s a small campground with decent sized sites so you have space from your neighbors. Very quiet, except one group had friends who had loud car stereos. Luckily, they didn’t play them too long. You’re really out in the middle of nowhere, so bring everything you need. There’s one restaurant nearby, the food was just okay. I didn’t use any other amenities. I didn’t have any cell or internet (T-Mobile).

Made reservations for three nights at Hyatt lake. Got there, space was not level. Was supposed to be 50 long,12 ft wide. We have a 20 ft trailer,pulled by ford f250 pickup. Big boulder on one side. No way could we put slide out.without someone taking it off.
We were over as far as we could get,without getting off pavement.
Decided not to stay,as camp host would not trade spaces. Can’t get phone reception for thirty miles . Not worth going back.
Please check your spaces and pictures of spaces. We were really disappointed,as we wanted to stay three days,before going back to Redding,ca Ended up at Lava Beds. Sincerely Yours Di New

Lovely campsite. Relatively quiet and private, though there are not as many trees separating one of the campsites. Would absolutely stay again! Accessing the excellent showers at the main campgrounds is easy, though it's about 2 mi away. I brought my bike - the ride has slight elevation and takes about 20 minutes.

Be careful of the toads that come onto the road at night - they kind of look like pine cones so don't step on them!

Great place to camp. A lot of space between camp sites so did not feel crowded.
