Campground is located in a scenic area, but the campground itself isn't all that. At least in Loop C, campsites nearest the lake didn't actually have a view of it, and most sites weren't level. Despite the campsites being spread out from each other, they aren't actually all that private or pleasant because you have to stay near the road. I visited in May and w/ no campground host, no ranger/staff presence of any kind, and very few fellow campers (none of which were tent campers like me) it had an eerie atmosphere. Add in the cold wind off the lake and the geese that honked late into the night -- I cut my stay short. I'm bothered because when I made the reservation there were almost no sites left, suggesting this was a popular campground that would be nearly full when I got there. Can't believe that 80% of those bookings cancelled in the time in between...something faulty with Recreation.gov?

WildCat at Hyatt Lake is my fav place to camp. Even if the water has been very very low for the last 5 years. Great sites and great clean up crews. Camp host comes around a lot and so do the rangers. Great place!!!!

Far away from everything, water level is super low. Bank fishing is difficult. Quiet, clean and pleasant.

Campsite was great, we brought a rake to clean everything up before we set up, it helped keep the bugs at bay. We had great space, with minimal interruptions. I loved how shaded our area was, and the view was very nice ! A quick walk to the bathrooms, which were equipped with nice showers and toilets ! Several trees in the area had been cut down, so there was lots of wood available. Well maintained trails, and a nicely maintained waterfront. The water level was low, and we did see quite an algae bloom, but it was still great for kayaking !

The campground, Wild Cat, was wonderful, quiet, a great respite from the heat in the Rogue Valley where we live. Although there are still many birds to watch and enjoy, the lake is in terrible condition from the drought. It is low and water levels fell even lower overnight. We wanted to kayak and perhaps swim but the amount of algae in the lake and the announcement at the camp entrance that parasites in the lake are causing Swimmer's Itch (Schistosomiasis) canned that plan. We were disappointed and sad but climate change is here and our beautiful parks, lakes and wild places are suffering.

Directions: From Ashland, Oregon (Interstate-5 Exit 14): Turn on Highway 66 toward Klamath Falls. Follow Highway 66 for 17 miles until you reach the Green Springs Inn. Turn north onto the Bureau of Land Management's East Hyatt Lake Road. Follow the road for approximately 3 miles until you reach the Hyatt Lake Recreation Area. Stay to the right on East Hyatt Lake Road; an entry booth, located at the entrance to the campground, has visitor camping information.
To get to Wildcat Campground and the Equestrian Campground continue past the entrance booth and Hyatt Lake Campground entrance for approximately 2 miles on East Hyatt Lake road and the entrance to Wildcat Campground and the Equestrian Campground will be on the left.
Hyatt Lake Recreation Area is accessible via Interstate 5, with the nearest exit being Exit 14 for Highway 66. Highway 66 connects to the recreation area after approximately 17 miles.
