Northrup Creek Horse Camp features beautiful scenery with amazing trees and a lovely creek, making it an appealing destination for campers. The campground offers generous spots for various types of campers, and the facilities, including clean vaulted toilets, are well-maintained. While hiking options are somewhat limited to horse trails and there was no water available during the visit due to a broken pump, the peaceful environment and seclusion add to its charm.

Three spots for the horseless, and each of these spaces are generous and not far from a vaulted toilet. Great spots for tent campers, car campers, van or truck campers and people with short trailers. Reservations required. We were there in October 2024 and there was just one other site taken, a father and adult son in a long trailer, there to elk hunt. There's two vaulted toilets in the horse area and one in the day use area, both clean and well stocked when we were there. No water, unfortunately (when we were there, the pump was broken). There's a lovely short hiking only trail next to the creek. Otherwise, hiking is limited, since most of the trails seem to be for horses only. If trees aren't being harvested, the forest road up into the hills is nice and has nice views near the top. With the campsite almost empty, it was gloriously quiet. During elk season, wear a very bright hat or vest. Only reason I'm not giving it four stars is because of the lack of a lot of hiking trails.
