Pros: Beautiful campsite with great river and toilet access and ample flat ground for your tent. Cell service was consistent and other campers were friendly and respectful. Pit toilet was adequately maintained.

Cons: This campsite offers very little privacy, the cooking grate was missing from our fire ring (though sites 8 and 10 had them), our picnic table was falling apart, and road noise is prevalent.

Overall, a decent site for a weekend getaway with easy access to city amenities.

Camp host was very friendly and kept the bathroom cleaned daily. Sites were very close together and the campground was near a boat launch so people kept driving through looking for another ramp. Lots of cars all day.

Beautiful, well maintained site. The lid on the toilet was broken and we talked to the ranger about it. He said the request for replacement was pending. Sounded like chain of command nonsense, so we didn't stress about it. Our site was steps to the river and spacious. Trees helped with privacy and everyone was respectful. I barely noticed the road noise, even at night. The frogs were loud enough to drown it out! I'd definitely stay here again.

We were assigned a 36 ft site, Site 8. We have a 32 ft motor home and the campsite was too small to accommodate our motor home. We had to drive further into the site in taller grass to be able to use the site. The ground was not level so we did the best we could with our makeshift levels. Our picnic table was in very poor shape so that we didn't even want to use it. We were under the assumption we would have a good view of the river, but the grass between our camp site and the river was so tall we really couldn't see the river very well. We had to walk through the tall grass in order to get to the river. The picture that was on the website as to what this site looked like was misleading. The picture looked better than the actual site, of course. We were very disappointed with our camp site and even came home 1-2 days early.

We took our grandsons (ages 4 and 6) camping at Big River, mostly because it's such an easy drive to and from Bend. We stayed in site #5, which was a nice, somewhat roomy spot and had no complaints. You can see and hear highway and bridge traffic nearby, but given how convenient the location is to Bend, we felt it was a fair trade-off. The boys had a blast exploring around the campground, playing with their trucks and army men in the river, and making up goofy stories in the tent at night. A wonderful, easy family trip!

Stayed one night in site 7 and one night in site 10. Very quiet, with very little traffic at night. Vault toilet was very clean. Sites were generally large and private. Overall, a great place to camp.

Site 10 (a great site) was better than site 7, in that it had river access, along with a few other sites. Site 7, like other sites which don't border directly on the river, provided no access to the river without walking through some other site, or going under the bridge to the boat ramp on the other side of the road, where river access is not that enjoyable.

Great location for floating the river and gathering with a large group. Can be a little loud right on side of road - but not too bad.
