Elk Lake is a super fun winter spot to visit. The new owners are making a lot of improvements to the property. We brought our kids and had a fun screen free weekend. We sat in the lake side sauna and did the polar plunge, the kids loved it. The food was fantastic, far better than we expected for a remote restaurant. The main lodge is a very cozy nice place to hang out. The rustic cabins are extremely rustic, so do be prepared for that, hopefully the new owners can update these. The snow cat ride in was a lot of fun, and the staff were friendly and great. We will come back again!

We are beginner skate skiers and we skied in 11 miles on a freshly groomed trail and it was wonderful. The lodge is beautiful and the food and drinks were awesome. Highly recommend!! We took the snow cat out from the lodge back to Dutchman and it is new, clean and enjoyable. The views of the mountains and lakes are memorable!

Four of us started our morning at Dutchman Flats. We wanted to do some cross country skiing and heard the Cascade Lakes highway might be groomed. It was beautifully groomed! I can’t believe the amount of work that went into grooming this road. Wonderful ski the 11 miles down to Elk Lake. Took our time at the lodge - ate and had some speciality coffee and cocktails. We saw a path around the lake that was groomed as well but didn’t take it. Chose to take their brand new and amazing snowcat back to our vehicles. Great day.

We skied out to Elk lake, had some of the best winter cocktails and lunch and then rode the snow cat back! This experience was so fun! The owner goes to great efforts to make it a great time and we sure had ourselves a phenomenal time! Our waitress/bartender worked her tail off for a ful house and was doing it all with a smile! Thanks for all the hard work you guys put into keeping this place open year round! Definitely a must do in Bend!

My friends and I stayed in rustic cabin #3 and even though it was rustic, you could tell the owner(s) took extra care to make it a luxury experience. They provided us with towels and a bath mat. A terry cloth bath mat in a rustic cabin, let that sink in. The cabin had propane heat and it kept us plenty warm. We actually had to turn off the heat during the night since the loft bed got so warm. Outhouses were clean and well stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. The lodge is a wonderful place to hang out with delicious food and drinks. They even let us take over the TV to watch the Olympics. We x-country skiied the 11 mi to the lodge and it was gorgeous, with plenty of skiing to do the next day around the lake. If there was more snow, we could've explored some of the nearby trails. The staff really made our stay, they were so kind and helpful, and seemed generally interested in getting to know the people staying there. Will be coming back for another stay!
