Site was large with a pull thru for our tent trailer. Sites were spaced a nice distance apart so we never felt crowded. We found a short trail to Hosmer Lake so we could launch our kayaks without having to drive to the main boat launch. Bringing our own water wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. We really loved this place and will definitely return.

We love this campground because it is remote and we have always found it mostly empty. Wonderful kayaking lake. But it is not for everybody with no cell reception, no water, and vault toilets.

This is a perfect place to connect and recharge. Fishing was a little slow, but kayaking and hiking along the lake were perfect. Can't wait to be there again

Beautiful, clean, quiet campground in scenic setting. Large campsites, each one pretty private. Great access to lakes, boating and hiking. Loved it.

The lake (Hosmer) is a trout gold mine, catch and release I think (we weren't fishing, but lots of people were fishing, doing well, and not cleaning fish. . .) and no gas motors, so lots of people paddling and using electric motors. We saw lots of fish, the lake is generally quite shallow and clear, So the fishing is probably worth the price by itself, and paddling and rowing are delightful. The scenery is superb, with mountains in all directions. The marsh itself is charming with its narrow channels. All told, a wonderful setting. The campground is very nice, albeit a little dusty except when it rained. Toilet was well maintained (pit) and the woods smell wonderful.
Lightning directly overhead (it seemed) at midnight was stupendous, and since we were not fried alive, quite exciting. Before the thunderstorms moved through the stars at night were mountain fantastic. Go if you can, you won't be sorry!

Be prepared for dust. Can also be pretty mosquito-ey — they seem to be getting worse.

Excellent campground in all respects. Large sites, almost all in Mallard Marsh have pull through capabilities for those trailers. Sites include a fire pit and picnic table. Bathrooms are well kept up. Easy access to the lake. Well maintained....Highly recommend Mallard Marsh campground.

The campsites are nicely spaced and blocked from one another by trees and shrubs. We were at site 005 and had ample shade in the afternoon and morning, which made for a comfortable rise and shine (as opposed to waking up baking inside the tent). The sites are nicely cared for and the picnic tables and fire pits were convenient for cooking and eating. We had a large tent and could have fit two more on our site and still had room for everything else. The mosquitos were in high gear in July but that's the case in the cascades lakes areas during the summer. We enjoyed that the campground was conveiently located near the lake and a short drive to the boat ramp area. The South Campground seemed much busier with people driving in and out all day from surroudning areas. At Mallard Marsh, the only traffic you get are the 12 other campers and the camp host and rangers. Very nice!

From Bend, travel 35.5 miles southwest on Cascade Lakes Hwy (46), then 1.3 miles east on Forest Road 4625. South Campground will come up on the right side first and then Mallard Marsh.
Mallard Marsh Campground is accessible via Cascade Lakes Highway (46), which connects to Bend and is approximately 35.5 miles northeast.

General
- The camping fee includes entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle, any extra vehicles will be subject to an extra vehicle fee at the campground.
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- During your time in Central Oregon, you can find wildfire, prescribed fire and smoke information at centraloregonfire.org
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. - Camping or otherwise occupying a single location (including leaving camping equipment and/or related supplies) for a period longer than 14 consecutive calendar days is prohibited. ‘Location’ means the occupied area, the occupied campsite, and the National Forest System lands in the immediate vicinity thereof. Camping or occupying any location on all National Forest lands for more than 28 calendar days total during a calendar year is prohibited.
- NO generator use is allowed in campgrounds. Silent power banks or battery powered devices are allowed.
