About Contorta Flat Campground

Contorta Flat is an isolated, hidden gem on the far side of Crescent Lake at the top of the Willamette Pass. There are excellent tent sites right on the lake as well as many sites that are ideal for large RVs. You will need to go a little off the beaten path by taking a gravel road for the last few miles to find this nice quiet campground. The sites are all close to the lake and large, but not isolated from one another. This campground might be the best deal in the Oregon Cascades.

What Guests Are Saying

Contorta Flat Campground is praised for its beautiful lake and well-maintained grounds, offering a stunning scenery perfect for a relaxing getaway. While the campground is small and some sites lack privacy, the respectful atmosphere among campers enhances the experience. However, visitors should be cautious of mosquitoes and potential reservation issues, as well as the challenging gravel road access.

The lake and scenery was stunning and the lake felt very safe to swim in. The campground is small but the sites are open and exposed to each other, so not very private, but when we were there everyone was very respectful and quiet. The campground couldn’t be pulled up on our gps, but if you follow signs off highway 58 towards Crescent Lake campgrounds, then follow Forest Rd 60 it’s clear where to go. Like others said, there is a gravel unpaved road for about 4 miles then you will pass the contorta group campsite to get to the individual sites. Mosquitos were the only bad thing, but a lot of campers had mosquito tents they would sit in at night.

This is hands down one of my favorite spots. The water is beautiful and you have a great view. I’ve been fortunate enough to camp here when it’s not busy however this time it was packed and had a lot of people walking through our campsite (007) to get to the water and lose dogs running around (not very peaceful). Mosquitoes are extremely bad in this area so come prepared.

    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
