About Contorta Flat Campground

Contorta Flat is an isolated, hidden gem on the far side of Crescent Lake at the top of the Willamette Pass. There are excellent tent sites right on the lake as well as many sites that are ideal for large RVs. You will need to go a little off the beaten path by taking a gravel road for the last few miles to find this nice quiet campground. The sites are all close to the lake and large, but not isolated from one another. This campground might be the best deal in the Oregon Cascades.

What Guests Are Saying

Contorta Flat Campground is praised for its beautiful lake and well-maintained grounds, offering a stunning scenery perfect for a relaxing getaway. While the campground is small and some sites lack privacy, the respectful atmosphere among campers enhances the experience. However, visitors should be cautious of mosquitoes and potential reservation issues, as well as the challenging gravel road access.

Note: there is no potable water here, so be sure to pack water.

There was an incredibly loud group at the campground when we stayed-- loud music and yelling until about 3am. No intervention from the park host. Lots of people also had off-leash dogs, one of which jumped all over my husband, getting his clothes all muddy.

It's a beautiful setting. I'm not sure if it was just an unfortunate crowd when we were there or if that's the usual clientele.

Worst experience camping at Contorta flats. The bathrooms were not cleaned to the standards they had been in past years, the camp host was hard to find and then didn’t seem to understand his duties as host. It was disappointing, but we love camping there every year so will continue to do so , but think Hoodoo did a much better job maintaining the camp and were much better to work with.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
