We had an amazing time during our stay at alder dune campground. It was beautiful and well maintained. Clean bathrooms and the host were very friendly and helpful! Great day use areas with lakes full of fish. Campsites have plenty of privacy and some are made for tents and some for rvs. Highly recommend this spot.

Overall a good place to stay. Hosts were friendly and came off accommodating. Only gripe, something that we have little control over, rowdy campsites going late into the night early morning. Was surprised at how little noise there was from the 101 though. I still would recommend.
Also, there are flush toilets in the day use area

Very beautiful place, will definitely stay there again. Some sites are pretty small, but it was very clean and we had a great time hiking the trail to the beach and around the little lakes there. I would recommend this campground to everyone.

Private site, little to no road noise on the FF loop. Clean bathrooms.

Its a very nice park. Camping sites are nice. Would of stayed longer but it was raining and I had little ones that wasnt going to sit in a dry rent very long.

Overall a pleasant stay for three nights but room for improvement. The pros: very private sites, great location (with Florence close by for convenience), generally quiet, and friendly staff. The cons: the pit toilets have seen better days and lacked sanitizer, firewood was rather expensive, and road noise from Highway 101 took away a little bit of the ambience. Site 9 was generally level but other campers mentioned other sites had some challenging slopes and constrained sites. I’d stay here again, but will intend to check out others nearby, including Perpetua and Sutton next time.

Awesome campground with clean, quiet and idealistic sites! People and host were friendly and it was just an overall great experience for my wife and I. Thank you!

We arrived at Alder Dune Campground at approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 5 after driving for hours from Oregon. Although the campground sign directed guests to a host, there was no host available—even during Labor Day weekend.
When we reached Site 17, which we had specifically selected and reserved several months in advance, we found another group completely set up in our site with an RV trailer. We politely explained that we had a valid reservation, but the woman became rude and aggressive, yelling that they had been there since the previous day. Regardless of when they arrived, they were occupying a clearly reserved campsite and refused to leave after we showed them our reservation.
With no campground host available, we had no one to help resolve the situation. We called the sheriff, but they did not have jurisdiction, and the ranger’s office was already closed. As a result, we were unable to use the campsite we had paid for and were left without a place to camp after a long day of driving.
The campground itself was also disappointing. The photos and site descriptions appeared heavily outdated. The sites were much farther from the water than the listing suggested, and the area was extremely overgrown.
This was by far our worst campground experience. There needs to be an accessible host or emergency contact available to enforce reservations, especially during a holiday weekend. We are extremely disappointed that our confirmed reservation was not honored and that no assistance was available.
