About Sandbeach Campground - Sand Lake Recreation Area
Sandbeach Campground is ideal for off-road vehicle lovers, with year-round access to nearly 1,100 acres of coastal sand dunes. The 81-site campground is part of the Sand Lake Recreation Area and home to a sand dune playground. Parking aprons are paved. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, campfire rings and an off-road vehicle loading ramp. All sites during the summer season (May-October) are reservations ONLY!!During the winter season (November-April) sites 2, 8, 12-14, 24-29, 38-46, 66, 70, 80-81 flood frequently and will not be available to reserve during this time. They will only be open to first-come, first serve and if you wish to stay at one of these spots during this timeframe please use the credit card machine located in the West Winds Campground parking lot. All other sites not listed above will still be reservable during the winter.Please contact the Hebo Ranger Station if you have any questions (503) 392-5100 we are open Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4 PM except on federal holidays.

If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not it! If you want a well run, ATV site, I highly recommend. We schedule our stayed one night as we were on a HY 101 motorcycle ride.
Obnoxious OHV riders at all hours of the night up and down the campground roads, some almost got into a physical altercation with another group staying at a nearby campsite and my 8 and 10 year old kids heard the yelling and cursing and didn’t sleep at all. We left the next morning. Will not be back. Gross.
This was our second tent camping trip at Sand Lake. We arrived without reservation because our booked campsite was smoked out by the fires near Mt. Hood. It’s a nice campground, but noisy because it’s for dune buggies. We had to ask a neighbor to turn off his generator after the 10 pm quiet hours. He did. The high fire pits aren’t designed for marshmallows roasting. I like that dune buggy enthusiasts have a campground to enjoy their riding. There aren’t many dunes like that around. Great hikes nearby!
great location and well kept…. ATVs a bit annoying at night with their “light show - circling the camp loop”. And Jackwipe next door decided to run his generator all night long
Sandbeach Campground is accessible via Highway 101, which is approximately 11 miles to the east from Tillamook. Sandlake Road (County Road 871) connects directly to Highway 101 and leads to Galloway Road.
Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
