About Sandbeach Campground - Sand Lake Recreation Area

Sandbeach Campground is ideal for off-road vehicle lovers, with year-round access to nearly 1,100 acres of coastal sand dunes. The 81-site campground is part of the Sand Lake Recreation Area and home to a sand dune playground. Parking aprons are paved. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, campfire rings and an off-road vehicle loading ramp.  All sites during the summer season (May-October) are reservations ONLY!!During the winter season (November-April) sites 2, 8, 12-14, 24-29, 38-46, 66, 70, 80-81 flood frequently and will not be available to reserve during this time. They will only be open to first-come, first serve and if you wish to stay at one of these spots during this timeframe please use the credit card machine located in the West Winds Campground parking lot. All other sites not listed above will still be reservable during the winter.Please contact the Hebo Ranger Station if you have any questions (503) 392-5100 we are open Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4 PM except on federal holidays.

Spot was not long enough as we have a ramp in the back of the 20' trailer that needs open up to get the ATVs out. The parking block was in the way. You could de couple the truck but that would require us to block the road. We did not use the spot.

Music blasting at full volume for 12 hours straight each day fri-sun to celebrate someone's birthday. I 100% understand celebrating and playing music all day. But it was unnecessarily loud. Camp host was well aware and could not do anything about it. We ended up leaving the campground for a few hours to catch a break.

Large group having a 50th birthday party. very load music for three days. Load generators for their sound system and live music. No consideration for other campers. Music would start about 7 o’clock in the morning and would not stop until 10 PM at night.
This was the first time I have had a problem with this camp ground.

Even understanding it was going to be loud from ATVs, the party scene (super loud music and lots of swearing around kids) made it a little weird. We escaped by going to the beach. The grounds otherwise were good and the bathrooms clean and well kept. Thanks for a good time.

Sandbeach Campground is accessible via Highway 101, which is approximately 11 miles to the east from Tillamook. Sandlake Road (County Road 871) connects directly to Highway 101 and leads to Galloway Road.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

  • Motorized vehicles on sand must comply with Oregon OHV regulations.
