Bull Prairie Campground is a local gem; a beautiful, woodsy place to enjoy a vacation, host a family reunion or social event, and to enjoy multiple recreational pursuits. This moderate-sized campground is located adjacent to 28-acre Bull Prairie Lake, which is stocked annually with trout. An accessible, family-friendly paved trail along the lake is ideal for morning jogs, bicycle rides, picnicking, and shore or dockside fishing. The lake has a boat ramp, dock and trailer parking area, but only non-motorized boating is allowed. Nearby trails connect the campground and lake with the Morrow County OHV Park, 8 mi away. Note: ATVs are only allowed at the dump station and in the north part of the campground (sites 25-28).
While this campground offers potable water, there is no garbage service so please pack out all garbage and dispose of it at home.

Bull Prairie Campground is a clean and well-maintained facility with friendly and accommodating hosts who provide free firewood and keep the bathrooms in excellent condition. Visitors enjoyed the beautiful lake, scenic trails, and family-friendly atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and outdoor activities. While some faced issues with water availability and the lake being closed, overall experiences were positive, and many plan to return.
I have been going to this lake for forty years. The camp hosts were excellent and they kept the place up nice, definitelythe best camp host ever! We will definitely be going back.
This is one of the cleanest and best maintained campgrounds I have ever been to. I'm retired and have been camping for many years. The toilet vaults were very well maintained. The camp hosts (Jody and Heather) were awesome. They addressed any issues as they arose and kept the campground enjoyable by keeping loud groups under control and dogs on leashes. Jody and Heather took care of the campground like you were a guest in their home. They visited with us, gave us local sites suggestions, and brought firewood to our campsite every night. I had a very enjoyable experience, and enjoyed getting to know the most enjoyable hosts.
It’s not under shade. It’s miserable which it is not designed for the tent. It’s perfect for RV only. I left early on Saturday morning instead of Sunday. I can’t handle this anymore.
This is a very clean camp with excellent campground hosts. I have camped here a number of times over the years and have never been disappointed. This year our party decided to take the drive between Kimberly (on the John Day River) and Monument to the East. Besides being such a beautiful drive, with many thriving farms, we viewed an Osprey nest at the City Park near Monument. Within just a few more miles is the John Day Fossil Beds. The interpretive center is open Thursday through Monday. I'll be back!
The camp host is AMAZING!!! Cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever encountered at a campground! They were around just enough to make everything run super smooth. Helpful and informative. I would go back just to see them. Besides that, the lake was beautiful and clean as were the trails and paths. All the other campers we very courteous and respectful at night time. 100% a good time!
Camp hosts did everything they could to make sure everyone had a great experience. Bathrooms were clean, the campsites were clean, lots of safe bike riding and a great lake for paddling around!
