Diamond Lake

We love Diamond Lake! We camp here every summer. This year we actually had two sites: L4 and M3. We tent camped in L4 all week in August and it is a perfect summer tent camping spot. We had direct access to the lake and the site is shady so the summer heat didn't bother us. We were prepared for mosquitos, but they were non-existent this year although earlier in the year they are. Our friends camped in M3 in an RV. It's a smaller RV spot but its nice. A 30' RV fit fine. Bring leveling blocks if you camp in M3 though as the RV spot isn't completely level. We rented a platoon boat from the Marina at the Diamond Lake Resort for a full day and it was fun to fish and explore in. We also had a delicious cheeseburger at the Diamond Lake Resort Lodge one day. The fishing from the shore is pretty much non-existent, but if you do catch fish, there is a really good fish cleaning station at the North Shore boat launch. We really enjoyed sitting by the lake at our campsite just watching the wildlife and resetting our brains. This year the lake was smoky due to the Jack wildfire down by Roseburg/Glide, but it was worse in the evening than in the mornings. We didn't have too much problems with it. This is the first year we had smoke. We couldn't have a campfire due to extreme fire conditions, but the park let us use our propane firepit so it was fine. We highly recommend Diamond Lake for camping. Families love it and the sites are very nicely distanced from each other. Praying that wildfires never take this beautiful Oregon campground. If you haven't been, I recommend trying it, but be warned you have to be very diligent to get a lakeside camp spot, they go fast on the reservation website. This campground is close to Crater Lake as well and there are bunches of hiking trails and waterfalls nearby also. We also checked out Lemolo Lake this year and it looked to be a good swimming lake. There is a day use fee, but it's only $5. Go...you won't be sorry.

While staying at the campground for 1 week the garbage containers were overflowing for days and not picked up. The toilet in the mens bathroom was plugged up for days. On the door of the bathroom was a sign telling users to email the forest about problems as the cleaning was under contract with a private company. First I couldn't email as I didn't have good phone service or internet. A forest service person visited the restroom but nothing was done about the plugged toilet. I spent 37 years managing campgrounds on nation forest and this is not public service. Toilets should be checked and cleaned without the public needing to notify the forest service to get it done. Other than that the stay was good. The trail around the lake was nice and the campground was peaceful. I plan on returning next year but hope they do better with the cleaning.

If in a motorhome it would be helpful to have a tow vehicle. Even though there is a lot to do it also involves a lot of walking.

Bathrooms and showers were filthy and had three fishing pole stolen out of my boat

The lake is beautiful, the campground is tired. The sites are very dusty with little grass. Makes it very dirty.

Beautiful and large spot! Be prepared to have to come in the one way street the wrong way to get your trailer into the spot. Only complaint about this spot, that the driveway angle is wrong for the one way street.

The bike ride around the lake is wonderful!

We had a great time despite the haze in the sky due to fires. First trip to Diamond Lake and Crater Lake. No cell service meant true camping and hanging out, connecting through conversation and fun activities. My only complaint/concern was the lake itself. One dock we found a sign that warned of a harmful poisonous algae but not posted on the dock we were using. And this after the kids had swam. We checked the alae blooms for Diamond Lake prior to camping. A notice of alae status included with your email reminders of reservations would help clarify.

Great place for all. Amenities are great. Location and sites are beautiful and spaced out well. Lake is not for watersport type play but great for swimming as speed limit for boats is 10mph, it keeps wakes minimal for shore play.
