What Guests Are Saying
Diamond Lake Campground offers a peaceful and scenic environment with excellent access to Crater Lake National Park and a variety of outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the spacious campsites, clean facilities, and friendly staff, with highlights including beautiful lake views and nearby amenities like ice cream and bike trails. However, some sites have uneven ground and limited flat areas for tents, while certain facilities require maintenance, and access to the lake can be challenging in some locations. Overall, guests express a strong desire to return, citing the campground as a favorite destination.

Very nice campground with beautiful views of the lake. Next time, we’ll bring bikes so we can circle the lake on the well maintained asphalt trail.

We stayed in sites A33 and A34. They were spacious and perfect for our group of 8 adults. We were across the street from the lake but still had great views and a short walk to access the lake. It was about a 10 minute walk to the resort where you can buy ice and firewood. We also rented a boat for the day and paddle boards. My only complaint was that the flush toilets near us were closed. The porta potties were not serviced and were in bad shape. The showers were clean and hot, it was a bit of a drive to get there from our campsite. but they are free!

Diamond Lake is a gem. The staff were great and always trying to accommodating. However, it seems that the cut in funds are taking a toll on this place. Half of the toilets were closed and honey buckets were placed at those locations. The showers had four of seven working. our site was small (nothing like any of the pictures on any website out there). Worst was the near by RVs who ran generators all day.

The campsites are large and the campground is very quiet during the day. There does not seem to be a camp host present,so if you are like our neighbors the first night, a not small group of young adults, (term used loosely). You can stay up and party until 12-1 am whooping it up until that one couple decides it is time to start an argument until 3 am. Or you could be like our neighbors the second night and be the drop in replacement for the von Trapp family with your guitar and an endless supply of songs everyone will sing to until well after midnight. Or maybe you could be the guy that we encountered on our last night who knew when the trash was going to be picked up on Monday morning, and he spent a solid 4 hours from 10 pm until 2 am climbing into each of the 6 large garbage receptacles to empty every bag to pull out each 10 cent recyclable. Maybe he was just a conservationist? Who knows?
Overall I give it a 3, I advise to not pick site G002 because it is close to the trash cans, or just make sure you don’t stay there Sunday night.

I love Diamond Lake -it is well designed w/good campsites & camp hosts. I was planning to stay another 3 nights & wanted to reserve but the only sites available were labeled "FF" for" first come first served". I went up to the entryway kiosk which is manned from Thursday to Sunday to see about some help. Nobody was there on the Tuesday I went there & there were 4 different campers trying to figure out the way for them to get a site. One was a big Mercedes like Class A w/a big Thunder jet boat on it just parked at the entry. I could see them just shake their heads and they turned around & drove away. Another was a fellow I met at the info board from California. He and his wife had been driving for 5 hours- they were trying to secure a campsite. All they saw was the FF category. The guy left his wife to guard a site then came to the info board. He tried to pay on his site as I watched him but payment showed it was pd on a Monday and he was there on Tuesday afternoon! The FF category must be eliminated and just go with the "A" available category for the immediate ability to reserve. People are driving hundreds of miles with big rigs & expensive gas costs & need to be assured they can reserve a site. I checked w/the guy the next day & he indicated that if nobody is going to check on him then he didn't care if he didn't have to pay! You are probably losing millions in US .You must get rid of FF and just go with the A or R category!! So..personally...i looked for a site for me to go to the next day and went and talked a camper in a site...THE NIGHT BEFORE IT WAS TO BECOME FF. Conflicts arose as he said the camp host assured someone else the site. The FF category causes problems! I looked at 1other site to go to but somebody took it by 7am. Dump the FF..just A and R!! All the problems will go away and it will be much easier on the camp hosts who are doing a good job. Dump thee FF..Go with A and R! Black or white..no grey! No problems!!

I had two reserved spots. One, C4 was very nice-shade, close to restrooms, showers and water. There was plenty of room for our camper. The other spot, C8, was on the lake but had no shade and broken pavement. Many spots at Diamond Lake are small and steep, suitable for tents only. The scenery is great and it's an easy trip to Crater Lake National Park.

Space A019 is a nice camp spot with grass and shade. It's on the main road, so there is a lot of traffic and bicycles. There is ample tent space for a few tents.
