Clean camp, wonderful atmosphere. I could get grumpy about the rock sticking out in the camp road that sliced my trailer tire but the weekend was so great I didn't give it a second thought. The camp hosts were exemplary, extremely friendly and welcoming. Roseburg OET has done an excellent job of clearing trails.

Campground host is super friendly and helpful. Most of the trails are blocked from downed trees but OET and BCH have secured a grant to hire a crew to clear all the trails this fall. One trail to Maidu lake is open and a small loop by the Campground also.

Camp host were super nice and the camp ground was very well maintained. We enjoyed the lovely trails around the campground and it's close proximity to Diamond an Crater Lake. We will definitely go back and can only recommend this place. The volunteers working there are wonderful and full of knowledge and made awesome recommendations. Their work shows as the camp ground is very well maintained.

Kelsay Valley Horse Camp is a hidden gem, but the trails aren't being kept up to Forest Service standards. Which is sad to see. The trails need to be cleared earlier, so folks who come in July can ride the loops

Well, there are 2 ways into this place, one is a 5 mile dirt road, the other is a 23 mile dirt road. Google took us in on the 23 mile and out on the 5 mile...it was quite an adventure. The site itself was OK, it smelled, but it is a horse camp.

Very quiet camp. I hiked the Tenas Peak loop and up to Lake Lucile and neither of those trails are cleared for horses--maybe a reason no horse camps were used while I was there. The trail down from the south side of Tenas Peak to the Maidu Lake trail was especially covered with debris and downed trees. Camp #5 was the least desirable of the non-horse camps--kind of sloping and jammed in between horse dropping bins (they were empty so no smell). Camp #6 was better--not so sloping. Water was available from the creek at the traihead in the campground, so I didn't need to bring in large containers (the review said no water at the camp). Lots of mosquitoes, but that's to be expected this time of year. Bathroom was very clean and there are trash receptacles. After checking out the other campgrounds in the area I am glad I chose this one for the solitude. There also was a lot of wood leftover from campground maintenance to burn in campfire rings. An axe was useful to split it.

Totally fine for the price. I stayed in a standard non-electric (no horses) and it was $10/night. The site is a couple miles off some gravel (non pot-holed) roads, one of which is a one-lane which got tricky a couple times as big trucks with horse trailers are most likely to be using this road (there are a couple areas to move aside). My site was 003 and was in between two manure bins so we got waves of horse smell but that's to be expected I suppose at a horse camp! It really was fine - we were close to Lemolo Lake and spent the afternoon swimming. VIsited Crater Lake about 45 mins away. The campsite is quiet with families and less of a "party crowd." I appreciated this little spot.

Site 7 is up on the hill by itself. You back up between two trees which leaves your trailer going down hill. There is only one horse corral at this site. I moved to site A-2 which I was able to back in and it was level. Site 6 is a pull though site. But these sites only have a corral for one horse. Why not two??? But they are all metal! The site next to the host is pull through and with 4 corrals. The sites at the back of the camp have 4 corrals each and are big enough for two to three trailers. Get through is you have a large group. There are sites for campers but they were all quiet. The trails were beautiful but a lot of down trees are on the trail. You and your horse will need to be comfortable going over them since the logs can be pretty big. Riding to the lakes are beautiful.
