Tyee Campground - Umpqua River

I left a day early after being disappointed by my sight and the campground. The photo of site #10 does not show that one can NOT pull into this site. Two large boulders are blocking one from pulling or backing into the site. I was disappointed to be parked on the road when the next five sites have driveways. This should be indicated in the photo. This site is also the one with the most road noise. The noise is mentioned in other reviews, but it is hard to describe just how loud it is from across the river. I came to enjoy a couple of rare sunny winter days, and no sun reaches this campground, nor this side of the river in general. If you don't fish (as mentioned as a prime reason to camp here), you can't access the river in the winter, and there is little to do at the campground or in the area. Elkton (16 miles away) is a nice town, but there is little open in the winter. There are no hikes in the area. The hosts were very nice, and the campground and vault toilets are clean

The camp was nice but seemed no rules for campers. There were campsites that looked like people living there with all kinds of garbage at their site and there were also a few dogs that barked non stop. Not fair to other campers to have to put up with untrained pets. Camp hosts were very nice.

Small campground. I only stayed one night and it rained most of the time. But the facilities were clean and the pathways well maintained. Beautiful views of the river. Not sure what going on in space 10.

A good site with nice river views. But be prepared for the logging trucks that start around 2:30AM and run all day. They run on the road just across the river.

Host and grounds were amazing. View of the river was nice also.

Tyee is a nice little campground right next to the Umpqua River. It is best to time your visit around the pumping of the septic tanks which is hard to do since you won't know they are past due until you get there which was the case on our recent trip. Sites 8 & 9 are the closest to the pit toilet. Spot #1 is for 1 car or van and has a tent area. There is 1 restaurant about 1/2 mile away called Tyee Landing, nice hamburgers and outside seating. They also have ice. There hasn't been any firewood available in the park for several months. The camp hosts are very nice. spots 11 - 15 are closed during the winter, check the website. spot 11 can be a little stinky. There is a nice group shelter that has a sink for dish washing. There are several trails that end right on the river. There is a wifi hotspot right near the host's rig. Day use has been free .

Peaceful place, would visit again. Lots of trails down to river.

Nice campground. It was well maintained and right on the river. Sites are good, and have a place to set up your tent. The spots are very close one another and I felt I had to whisper after 8pm. No boat launch here, but the river was pretty. The mosquitoes were out in force in the evening. I won't be back and just stick to back country camping....

We loved this campground. It's beautiful with lots of wildlife to view along the river. It's also clean and well maintained and the host is friendly and helpful. The only downside for me is that it is located between two busy roads so there's truck and traffic noise.
