Tyee Campground - Umpqua River

The campsites were clean and well cared for. The restrooms were clean and odor free. The camp host was very knowledgeable and helpful. The only downside to camping there was the highway traffic during the day.

Site numbers in the teens are crammed together in an odd cul-de-sac style. It's fine if you are camping with other groups, but a little tight for strangers.

Poison Oak grows rampant. It's everywhere. If you're sensitive to it, walk carefully in the center of all paved paths and keep dogs on a very short leash.

The river has a permanent advisory for toxic blue-green algae. So while everything looks lovely, the hazards kind of hamper your enjoyment of it all.

I have been visiting Tyee campground for the past 8 years. I have always found the campground a safe, clean and well maintained. The bathrooms deserve recognition for being the best smelling vault toilets I have ever experienced. Clean bathrooms every single visit.

I valued previous camp hosts and find the new camp host Erich to be engaging, helpful and informative. Erich was busy the entire four days I was camping. It is obvious he takes pride in his work.

Sites are very large and many would accommodate a large motorhome or RV. Fire pits are my favorite as they are great for cooking. I appreciate the way the sites have an area for setting up a tent. Most sites are level with the exception of #2. I would suggest #2 only suitable for tent camping.

There is wi-fi available at the host site. They are user friendly for you to use the internet to reserve sites or extend your stay.
Water is conveniently located as are garbage bins.

Several trails to the river make for a great picture taking opportunity.

Fairly small CG, so not too crowded or noisy. Many tent sites are right by the river (at a higher ground) with easy access to the river, although some parts of the hiking trail along the river are not well maintained. Nice, shallow, pretty river to get in and play; evidently good for fishing. Tent sites are spacious/clean/flat and mostly surrounded by bushes for privacy. But, for large/long RVs, limited space to maneuver backing in. Lots of water spigots, clean vault toilets.

Perfect site ... but for the road noise. Really distracts from the get-away experience.

Really enjoy this campground and will be back.

Always a pleasent visit. Quiet and love the river right down the hill.

This has been one of my favorite places to camp. The camp hosts do SUCH a great job and the River is magical.

Pros: A nice heavily treed and small campground.
Con’s: Never saw a host. No enforcement of noise restrictions. Neighbors ran generator very early and for a long time. A few spots down someone played rap music loud and around 5 blasted the star spangled banner. Stairs to the river looked like they will fall apart soon and the concrete landing is falling to the side making it difficult to get to the ground or back up onto it. An accident waiting to happen. Fire ring had several holes….one big enough to put a baseball through. Seems like a fire hazard or injury for someone.

The campground is nice with walking paths and river access. However, if you want a PEACEFUL campground, this is not it. The traffic noise is so bad we barely got a good night's sleep. There is a road alongside the campground where logging trucks run up and down as early as 2 am. I was literally scared out of a deep sleep by one driving by and roaring its engines. Then across the river on the freeway trucks run up and down almost every 5 minutes, again late at night, early morning, and into the day. Then you have the campers in trailers that run their generators as early as 6:30 am and as late as 11 pm. When leaving we asked the host what the rules were for generators. He replied "I don't know. I have to look into that." So obviously they don't care nor do they enforce any Quite Hours rules.

We were camped about 4 spots down from the commode but by the second day the lovely odors were permeating our campground. They were clean as can be expected and they have fans but I assume because they were getting full the odor was bad.

We have camped there a couple times but will not return. We go to this spot to enjoy the river activities. In the future we will just go to the river for the day and for overnight camping we will go to one East of Roseburg on 138 where it is much quieter.
