The place was beautiful! Water was warm and the trail around the lake was a great hike. Plenty of fishing, swimming, kayaking, and small wildlife sightings (rabbits, birds, fish, and ground squirrels).
Downsides: Restrooms were caked in flies. All over the campground the trees were cut down, logged, and stacked up all around, so there was hardly any shade in the actual campsite, even though there were stumps everywhere. Some of the campsites were even surrounded on 3 sides by stacks of firewood 5 feet high. No potable water, trash service or camp hosts were inconvenient compared to other national forest campgrounds, but didn’t take away from the good time we had.

When I looked at pics of the campground - i'm sure they were a few years old . With beetle kill in the trees, we did not have the shade we thought we would have - trees were cut down

From Ukiah, OR travel south to County Road 1475 (turns into Forest Service Road 52 after 5 miles). Go about 48.5 mile to the town of Granite. Instead of entering the town, turn right onto County Road 24/Forest Service Road (FSR) 10 and travel about 3.5 miles to the end of the pavement. Follow the gravel road up to the right (FSR 10). Travel about 9 miles on FSR 10. Turn right on FSR 1000480 and travel about 1/4 miles into the campground.
Elevation: 1843 feet
62 mi drive to downtown Ukiah (about 1 hr 43 min)
Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
