Olive Lake Campground (OR)

The bugs are just a bit too much here. You can put on spray for the mosquitos, but it does nothing to help with the biting flies and flying beetles. The website wasn't kidding when they warned of a lack of shade due to all the tree cutting. Very hot and bare, campers will for sure want to bring their own shade. ODFW says they stocked the lake pretty well back in June, but no one in the entire campground were catching fish. The lake is very pretty and great for other recreation.

We enjoyed our time at Olive Lake. The purpose of the trip was to scout for elk for the hunting season. That meant we were up early to hike the trails adjacent to the campground. While the lake was beautiful and clean, it was disappointing that a travel trailer was allowed to use their generator until at least 10:00 p.m. It seems like a generator should only be used during certain daytime hours and not at hours that might disturb other people's ability to sleep. I understand that quiet hours are generally after 10:00 p.m.; however, I have been in numerous campgrounds where the rules require generators only during daytime hours.

Park was thinned to much. Not enough shade. And bees where horrible. But overall a good trip this time. Love olive lKe

Les, the camp host, was awesome. Reminded us of the rules of the park in a pleasant and friendly manner. This campground is always clean and and one of our favorite places to go for hiking and biking around the lake. Tell Les to take care of “our” family of river otters … we’ll be back :)
