This was such a beautiful spot, with an amazing view! But beware of the weather. We tent camped in this area early March. Due to the time of the year it was extremely windy and rainy. If you are tent camping this spot may not as comfortable since it out in the open. It also very hard to set up a tarp since there are no trees. Our things were also flying everywhere due to the wind. There are more sheltered campsite at this site. Also one last thing to note that on the left side of the building wooden fence, this area is shared by both site 18 & 17. The bathrooms and water access is good!

We had a great time, beautiful camp spot. Ocean waves heard all night. Sunsets gorgeous, walked the beach. Yachats just 5 min away, went out to the Driftwood Inn for delicious dinner. Rained on day 3, but it was not all day so we still got out.

Our campsite was on the ocean side with parallel parking that was level and easy to pull into. Check the length of your drive way before booking as there were many parallel parking sites that would have been tough for us to get into if neighboring campsites had vehicles parked around us. Some Oceanside sites are very exposed. This offers a great view of the ocean and the wind to go with it. Site 23 was great as it had an ocean view and we were in a mottle cove of trees to block winds and some rain fall. Some campsites get large puddles during the rain, but 23 was okay due to the trees. If you have a trailer, your trailer will be a bit removed from the campsite due to walking down a little path from parallel parking site. We didn’t mind so much, but something to consider when selecting a site. If you are tent camping there were multiple places to put large and small tents under tree cover meaning the ground was not as soupy as other areas of the campground. If you have little kids be aware that the campground rests on a cliff side above the beach so Oceanside sites could be dangerous. Stairs to get down to beach are easy enough, but high tide comes all the way up the beach to the base of the cliff so make sure you are paying close attention to high tide times before taking your kiddos down to the sand.

I'm always impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms and of the campground. This time was no different and I was also impressed that the camp hosts had to deal with flooded campsites. My campsite was clean and ready for me with a reservation sign on the site post. I was camping during the King Tides and the sound of the crashing waves at night was a lullaby.
My only complaint about Tillicum is that the campsites that back onto Hwy 101 are very noisy and dark. I would not reserve one of those spots. I have been to Tillicum many times and always enjoy the easy access to the beach for my dog and me, although this time with the super-high tides beach walking was no a good idea.
Both Waldport and Yachats are within a short driving time for provisions and restaurants. Cape Perpetua is also close by, and offers some challenging hikes in the Coast Range as well as easy access to shoreline attractions such as the Spouting Horn.
Highly recommended for families.
