Great park and hard to get a reservation. Our site was on them water with a beautiful view. Bathhouses were clean. Deer are very tame and fed regularly by campers. Laundry is free. Cell service is nonexistent. Try the restaurant at the marina. Also check out the Sav-Way in Carthage, great prices.

This is easily one of the nicest .gov parks we've been to. It has a surprising number of well laid out sites, a gated entrance and full hook ups. We booked a pull through site for just one night as we were passing through the area. The cool breeze from the lake in late summer made for a perfect evening. The park layout and site made for an easy in out without any drama. I was sad we had to leave the next morning but we will definitely plan to make this a destination or extended stay in the future.

The campground is beautiful! Many campsites are either on the lake or have a Many campsites are either on the lake or have a lake view, and the campsites are a good size. We had plenty of room. We enjoyed seeing the deer everywhere. When we were there, it was a sweet family atmosphere. People of all ages riding their bikes on the road through the campground or taking walks with dogs. All of the amenities were well maintained and staff was friendly. Overall, it has a very tranquil vibe. We plan to go back to Defeated Creek again. We didn’t even know it was there, but we certainly won’t forget it.
