This was our first time staying at Cages Bend. It was a really nice experience. The campground is small but beautiful. Most sites have a view of Old Hickory Lake even if they aren't directly on the lakefront itself. All of the campsites are fairly level and well-maintained. Only one single bath house for the 43-campsites but that wasn't an issue. No sewer hook-ups, but 50A electric and water everywhere. The campground is located near Hendersonville, TN directly on Old Hickory Lake. You are just 5-6 minutes from grocery/retail stores and maybe 30-minutes from downtown Nashville. Cell service in the campground was excellent for both AT&T and Verizon. The only real negative for this campground is the interior roadway is fairly narrow and has a couple of tricky curves that big rigs need to be careful with. Also, on campsite (#16), would be a very difficult site to back a travel trailer or fifth-wheel into due to this interior roadway geometry, a drop-off, and a retaining wall!

Almost everything was great, but I don’t get the lack of bathroom maintenance. Ripped or missing shower curtains, loose toilet seats, absence of hooks and soap dishes in the showers and at the sinks. When I asked the gate host about it, he just told me to use a different bathroom. How about instead you take a Crescent wrench and tighten down a toilet seat?

We love Cage’s Bend. Being on the lake is beautiful. Grocery & restaurants are very convenient. The camp host Willy was wonderful. We have already made reservations for 2024!

From Nashville, TN, travel North on I-65 and take TN-386/Vietnam Veterans Blvd. Continue to exit 12, Big Station Camp Blvd. Turn right onto Big Station Camp Bldvd. Continue staight across Nashville Pike onto Cages Bend Road. Take Cages Bend Road to Benders Ferry Road. The recreation area will be ahead on the left.
Cages Bend is accessible via Benders Ferry Road, which connects to State Route 109 approximately 5 miles to the west, providing access to Interstate 40 about 10 miles to the south.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- All campsites require a reservation; walk-ins are not allowed.
- Check-in time is at 3:00 PM and check-out time is at 12:00 PM.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Fires & fuel
- Do not move firewood; purchase it locally and burn it on-site to protect forests.
