Poole Knobs

Good location good lake access

Lovely campground with lots of shade and water front sites.

Campsites were clean

Site was roomy but not much of anything to do here unless you have a boat to take out on the lake. Most sites are not level what so ever. The bathrooms are very outdated as well. Staff was rushing us out on check out day. My father in law was having problems getting the pop up camper put back up at his site next to us and staff did not seem to care. We were told to hurry up multiple times by a staff member on a golf cart because someone else was checking into his site early. I tried explaining he has had heart surgery and was moving as fast as he could. I was helping him out as well. Instead of being concerned for him or even helping, staff merely stated that he should have packed up earlier and been out right at check out time. I understand that he should have been out at check out time but things do happen in life. Not impressed with staff at all. We will more than likely not be back.

Definitely not my favorite local campground but we had a nice time. I’m not sure we saw any sites that were level, and we watched a man completely tear up his nice RV getting stuck in one of many ditches next to the driveways. (It also took 2 hours to get a camp Host there and we were all stuck trying to get to our sites because we couldn’t get around him). The volunteer lady we finally found was precious and so helpful to finally go get them. Be ready to climb Mount Everest to get up the trail to the bathhouse from the lake loop, lol. No wifi…which we knew going in. I’d probably go again if got site 22 and as high as the boat ramp…probably not otherwise.

We had a good campsite during our stay. The personnel managing Poole Knobs were courteous and helpful.

Awesome campground

Nice shaded spots. Trees in between sites for privacy. Very nice staff

This is probably the worst corps of engineers campground in middle TN. They have not made any improvements since it was built. There is no courtesy dock, the boat ramp area is full of gravel and lumber. The planters are so rotten they are about to spill out at any moment. The sites are mostly buddy sites and totally un level. The bathrooms are terrible. The road coming into and inside the park has seen better days many years ago. I feel like they keep it open to make some money, but they certainly are not putting any effort into this campground. I’ll drive and hour and a half out of my way to stay at defeated creek or salt lick from now on. I even canceled the other two reservations I have at this park this year.

I love Poole Knobs. The sites are nice and wooded. The bath houses are always nice and clean. The water sites are the best but we were not on the water site. The non water sites are a little cheaper so if you have a friend with a water site its nice to book a cheaper site and use their access to the water.
