What Guests Are Saying

Poole Knobs Campground is praised for its beautiful, spacious, and wooded sites, many of which are located by the water, providing great views and access to lake activities. While some campers noted issues with site leveling and maintenance, the overall atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, with friendly staff and clean facilities. Despite a few negative experiences with park attendants and minor inconveniences, many visitors express a strong desire to return and appreciate the campground’s charm.

Very Quiet campground. Our site by the water was well shaded with the trees.

Had site 46 and it’s on the water which is nice. The site is definitely not level and in all the years we’ve camped this has been the worst one. Liked the campground overall and would go back but pick a different site. The camp hosts couldn’t have been nicer people!

The campsite was large and on the lake with lake access. Worst problem is the bathhouse near the campsites was damaged by a storm. You had to drive to the other bathhouse. Otherwise it is nice, little noise from airplanes.

A great quiet park. Our stay was only for one day, but we would consider a longer stay in the future.

We arrived a little late and when we got to our site someone was in it. The guy showed me his reservation as well as us showing him ours. They double booked the site. So for the night we parked in the spot across from our original site. Next day comes and the park attendants approached us stating that we had to move because somebody had booked that site and then proceeded to tell my husband that it was impossible that our site was double booked. So pretty much calling us liars. So the people who had booked the site we were and actually were very nice and looked for another site to move into and was gonna let us have that site. So we were told we are good to stay as soon as my husband went up to the park attendant office, the site was booked. So we then had to move to an emergency site. So we stayed at the emergency site for approximately two days until we got moved to a different site. So we moved three different times in four days and it was quite frustrating. Not to mention the park attendance both of them mostly the ladies were not very friendly not very welcoming works kind of rude and had profusely apologize to everybody in the situation, but us. We felt kind of judged. Not very friendly at all at least not to us. The positive I can say about the attendance is they did approve my refund request for the first four days that we were there considering we could not enjoy our time because we weren’t able to make our camp our home we had to keep pick up and moving for the first five days of our stay. The part that really bothered me about this whole entire stay was when the blonde park attendant approached us and kind of demanded that we rebook our stay at her request. Because she needed to know. We planned on booking our stay when we had gotten paid so we planned on doing it, but it wasn’t on her timing. She approached our campsite. Kind of rude. Didn’t even say good morning. It was kind of a blunt and rude experience with her.

Our campsite was extremely unlevel—dropping nearly 6 inches across our camper's 8-foot width. We had to use all four sets of our leveling blocks and even build up the steps just to stabilize them. While the camp hosts do a great job with their standard maintenance, the overgrown vegetation around many of the RV sites desperately needs trimming to make navigating in and out easier. We also traveled with our dog, but several aggressive dogs on loose or questionable leashes made us feel unsafe walking ours around the grounds. Overall, this was a disappointing stay, especially compared to how well-kept other Corps campgrounds in the Nashville District are. Unless improvements are made, we won't be back.

The 2 older ladies are very hateful, we had paddle boards and kaykas by the boat ramp and the ladies came there are started yelling g at us saying we could not be in the water with our boards. It was in the rules. They left after 10 minutes and 10 minutes later the Sheriff showed up. Come to find out the Sheriff Department does not like the 2 ladies either. The Sheriff Department has had numerous calls about the ladies. Please take of the 2 ladies.
