What Guests Are Saying
Poole Knobs Campground is praised for its beautiful, spacious, and wooded sites, many of which are located by the water, providing great views and access to lake activities. While some campers noted issues with site leveling and maintenance, the overall atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, with friendly staff and clean facilities. Despite a few negative experiences with park attendants and minor inconveniences, many visitors express a strong desire to return and appreciate the campground’s charm.

Was very dangerous with the steps and hard to level the camper. I ended up falling down the steps. I was not injured just bruised and sore. Also a huge rat got into our camper and that made it unpleasant u til we caught it in a trap.

I chose my site based on description and comments. When I checked in and went to the site we did not fit and is was very slanted. We went back to check in and was told they didn't think we'd fit and assigned us a different site. If they didn't think we'd fit they should've said something! The 2nd site was big enough but still sloped down towards the lake. Most sites looked un-level but the park in general was nice and peaceful. Traveling from Illinois to Georgia this was a nice, convenient location with lots of shopping and restaurants close by.

Wonderfully cool despite the hot weather -- great shade till right around noon! Had a blast here with my boys, and the camp sites are really nicely built and maintained.

Campsite #23 was horrible. Said room for two tents, not true. Not able to have a campfire cause tent butted up right next to fire pit and was not moveable. The restroom was up an extremely steep hill. I have MS so after the first time never went up again. Stated no swimming but lots of folks swimming?? No garbage cans. Campers came in late after dark and after 10p blasting music and being loud. One person during the night tried to drive up the steep walk to restroom but couldn’t so just spun his tires forever which was right next to our tent. The map showing where bathrooms were was wrong. More info should be given on how inaccessible the bathrooms are. Never found the showers. We paid to stay three nights but left after the first night. Will never be back.

There’s one bathroom that has ok access. Then you must drive there. Only one bathhouse with no air flow. Chiggers was so bad that you couldn’t get out of the camper. We had to knock down the weeds around the picnic table ourselves so we could locate the table. I wouldn’t recommend this camp ground to anyone. The only good thing was that Walmart was very close.

We have camped here, same 3 sites, for about 4 years in a row. Always great. However, this year, not sure if the lady working on Friday and Saturday was new. She accused me of being on the wrong site. I wasn't. Then she charged 2 of my guests to park, even though I'm allowed 2 cats per site. The lady on Sunday apologized but wasn't allowed to give refunds. The water was over grown and gross. Not the campgrounds fault by any means. The lake is going to do what it does. But overall, great time and will probably book the same 3 sites again next year

Stayed in site 61. Like the site itself, nice view over the water, though some scrub could be cleared for a better view. The biggest problem was having to edge the camper all the way toward the fire ring area to get it level, 6-8 ft away from the power post. The gravel also makes it more difficult to get enough leveling under the wheels- they kept sliding on the gravel. Sites need leveling work to be top-notch.

Very quiet place to unwind and relax in the woods. I was happy to have a private picnic table and bbq

We enjoyed breaking in our new RV (new to us, anyway) at this campground, and were pleasantly pleased that we had a pull through site close to the water. It was quite hot that weekend, so we enjoyed cooling off in the lake. Very nice surroundings, and we had lots of shade. A recommended getaway.
