Loved everything about the campground! 4 days wasn't enough to visit everything in the areas! Very clean restroom and shower area as well as the campsite! The entire family was secretly hoping to see a black bear before having to head back home.

What a fantastic place to tent camp. Plus , with the pool, bathhouses on site(with hot water) and always felt safe. The rangers were always driving by just to make sure that everything was good. It is a hop skip and a jump away from a Walmart just in the case of major needs, if not there is a camp store onsite by the visitor center that has pretty much what ever need a person might have, toiletries, food items, ice cream, and several choices of alcohol if you just wanted to have a cold one. There is firewood and ice available for purchase 24 hours a day. The firewood is in $10 and $20 bundles. The trails that are around the campground are very well maintained. Great for an overnighter to an all week long trip.

We've been here many times and it's always a great camping experience. Sites are clean and mostly wooded with power and water. Mobile phone service is weak.

Big South Fork NRRA in general, and Bandy Creek Campground, in particular is one of our favorite places to visit. Over the last 20 years we have spent more of our outdoor nights in Big South Fork than anywhere else. Big South Fork never disappoints, but this year it seems to be in absolutely spectacular condition. Trails, roads, and campground. Bandy Creek has the best showers in the entire Federal system. The bath houses are always clean and supplied with paper and hand soap. The water is hot and the shower heads are excellent. The leadership and team are to be commended for their hard work preserving this spectacular area!!!

Huge, magnificent park with great well-maintained trail system. Camp sites are good-sized, many with shade. 1-2 bars Verizon. One local network of OTA tv. Ranger programs and Visitor Center are informative.
It was disappointing that camp regulations were not monitored and enforced. Vehicles were parked on grass/ natural areas. Both sides of my site had deep ruts caused by vehicles that held rain water for my two week stay. Also many sites had more vehicles than allowed. Not enforcing regulations is degrading the natural habitat of this special area.

Bandy Creek Campground is accessible via US Highway 27, which is approximately 12 miles to the west. The campground is also within reach of Interstate 75, located roughly 25 miles to the east.

Arrival & departure
- Travelers should exercise caution on Highway 297 due to steep grades and curves; an alternate route is recommended for those uncomfortable with these conditions.

- To prevent wildlife encounters, secure all food and scented items properly and maintain a clean campsite.
Fees & deposits
- Horse stall reservations are required and can be made by phone or online; they are separate from campground reservations.
Safety & rules
- Caution is advised when camping in this area due to potential falling branches.
Local regulations
- Fishing in the main river requires a valid Tennessee or Kentucky fishing license.
- Groups larger than 25 must obtain a permit for activities that move away from established roads or parking areas.
- Business services in the park require an approved permit or authorization; details can be found on the park's website.
